I do sometimes wonder if importing a rough low spec car would be easier and a cheaper way of getting what I want?

Probably isn't worth it.

Think of it as a holiday. Fly there and take a road trip home and see things.

A long time ago I wrote a guide the paper trial that needs to be done. The images of the said paperwork has disappeared and now we (the owners) can do some things online to save visiting various offices  But in general  that post shows you what needs to be done.

The one in the Canaries is even more complicated as there will be importation to mainland Europe to sort out too. They get special dispensation on various taxes due to them being nearer Africa and not Europe.

Back in the 90s there was a car magazine that compared a Kadett Mattig breitbau to a stock Kadett GSI. It was much slower, the widebody adds a lot of weight. It is nevertheless an interesting example of excessive German customizing. Shame this one has been repainted in such a modern looking colour (Nardo grey?).

That dealer certainly has some damaged* cars in stock

That dealer seems to be trading in a lot of bottom of the market stuff. Some interesting stock, but many that are realistically only suitable for spares.

Would, if I had any room for a fifth car. Just 450 euro for this 1993 Twingo (one of the oldest still existing), seller claims it drives as it should, five months of inspection left. Remove the aliexpress junk, tidy up the bumpers, source a set of original wheel trims, and you'll have a very presentable early example of the Mk I Twingo I think.

Renault Twingo 1.2 RIJDT GOED/APK 5-2026/INRUILKOOPJE!

I cannot get into Farcebook to see the listing. Is that for sale in UK or Malta. I ask because I thought Malta used Euros and you give the price in UKpounds

The car is for sale in Malta. I gave the price in pounds because I couldn't find the € symbol on the PC in work (honest) and didn't think to type 1600 euros!

You should still be able to view the listing by right-clicking or pressing down on the link and selecting 'view in new window'.

it asks me to login all the time.

For Euros just use E. I use a Spanish keyboard and have the same issue for the pound sign. So I understand about money symbol issues.

My old Jap import MX5 now with a classic dealer in Germany

i toured a load of Europe in this car including driving it straight passed the Eiffel Tower and flat out on the Autobahn, cool to see it all cleaned up though it’s a bit sad to see they painted over the rusty sills instead of actually fixing them

No one will be buying that because it's a diesel, that's why they're worth so little compared to petrol ones. 2404 euro per year to tax in Noord-Holland!

That's interesting information which I didn't know, but also that particular example appears to have starship miles on it.

Edited to add: I see @Remspoor had already pointed this out; apologies.

I heard talk that the Dutch in some cities were thinking about removing the milieuzones. First time was two years ago. I understand some cities have delayed the implementation of the milieuzones. But they are coming.
This is one reason why last year we came to NL to purchase a petrol engine car. There is a greater choice.
