I still want an MG maestro. Ideally in Moonraker blue.  But if that what one in Hartlepool is still for sale after march 15th, there is a chance I'll got open the caravan up and bring it home

Do it. Apparently you can only regret the things in life you don't do. Which is bollocks as I still regret going with Natalie Dodd. But still, you should buy a Maestro.

Could have been worse, you could have been with ken dodd, that's a circumcision you wouldn't want to think about.

Why, did you make her pregnant? I thought she was alright anyway.

Now the days are starting to lengthen I itching to get my Maestro out and tinker with it. I was even planning some time off at Easter for some proper mechanicing.

First thing I'm getting is a quieter zorst.

Yes. When I got the car it was supplied with a stainless system so I fitted it. It does sound pretty meaty from the outside but inside it's very drony and on longer journeys it's unbearable. I think it's made my tinnitus even worse, so it's a priority to get it sorted.

How much (for fixing the tinnitus on BUPA)?
£1200?
OK, I'll have two randoms on the Maestro to help pay for the operation ;-). There, both sorted for you.
I did catch a fake Maestro on a Suzki ad last night (no doubt already all over the Maestro forums) and, immediately, thought of you guys. Especially so after my wife had said "Look, a Mastro. Which one of Dadsnet owns that one?"

p.s. usual fix for the exhaust problem is to turn the sound system up to 11. Oh, wait, Maestro OEM? ahhhhh

Nothing worse than being sat at 70 with a constant deep tone drone, had it with my 'scoobies' and Fireblade. Although I. My younger day I did just used to speed up and slow down just to alternate the tone.

They all sounded 'pukka' on short blasts and country roads though

The car's the star - wonder if the real owner got an envelope full of fivers?
Mind you, I'd have the cover and fling it over the Bini - be a bit of a hoot to see my wife's face when she came downstairs in the morning and looked out the window at her pride and joy.🤔I would, of course, have to hide all sharp implements beforehand.

There's a proper old boy Maestro nut near me who owns three of the things and seems to regularly use all of them.

This streetview picture was before the Queen died. You can see in his front windows displaying different portraits of the queen for passersby to view.

That very Maestro used to stay around the corner from me.

Also spent time in Edinburgh too. From other folk spotting it and the Edinburgh uni parking stickers on it.

Shame it was really clean when it first appeared. Then steadily got worse over time.

Found a picture of it!

Trust me, this place is much  better than the Maestro/Montego forum - it's basically nearly dead with a few users who check in occasionally but never when you need them. One in particular is called something like 'diesel Dave' and knows everything, but it's all in his head and the knowledge will die with him which is a shame.

@EyesWeldedShut - is 'Dadsnet' a reference to us? Very funny! I've seen the Suzuki ad and was briefly outraged about the Maestro diss.

Here's a couple of local Maestros to me, the blue one is still MOT'd, the red one has sat on that drive for a good few years, a friend spoke to the owner who seemed willing to sell, but only for £3k.....!!

Somehow only just found this superb thread. Never owned one but have a long term semi for an MG Maestro. Was seriously looking shortly after I joined here, but thanks to @garethj I ended up with a much more/less sensible 924.
I’ve made up for it in Scalextric Maestro ownership form though, I have about twenty of them…

Aye - we are Dadsnet - that's according to my wife who finds a lot of what goes on here quite amusing - just so long as it does not feature 'wedgie' shaped cars like err - Maestro, XM, BX and so on - exactly the sort of stuff I rather like. Did I mention that she disliked* my Ovlov 940 so much that she never sat in the driver's seat, let alone drove it?

*bit harsh maybe, like me disliking her Marmite**

** not a euphemism, I really mean Marmite ;-)

Might be my mate, Dave, who gave me the original scripts to the talking dashboard! An exceptionally talented senior engineer at [big motoring company], same guy who owns this;

Lowered for maximum respect.

I don't think it is him, he calls himself DoctorDiesel77 I believe.

If it is him, can you download his brain onto a USB stick please? Then send to me, thanks.

I have the same issue with the Corsa.

Longer journeys and under load (like going uphill) it's awful. Think I'm gonna toss the back box in the skip and find something else!

I've found the M&M forum useful for certain bits of info. It can also be very frustrating too, as some people have had some problems and never post if they managed to fix it or not. but I suppose that's a common problem to most model specific forums.

Trying to post solutions to my Maestro problems on here so its at least recorded somewhere.

I used to own the Maestro as driven by Vicki B-H in that Top Gear clip.  ðŸ˜„

I can remember sitting in the back of my Mum’s F reg Maestro 1.3 HL as she drove it off the forecourt of Lex Rover Maidenhead (now a block of flats). It was bought as an ex-demonstrator - my parents never bought brand new - in that mid metallic blue and had red accents on the external door trims.

That is another "Ledbury".

You got only four colours. White, Blue, Red and Black. Also from one story I read you didn't get a choice in what colour you got.
