Check out the MOT history for this old shitheap. Lots of really clean passes over the years and the few advisories given have been very minor, for things like damaged number plates or headlamp beam pattern incorrect.

How has it escaped the tinworm?

It’s a London car. London effectively has its own microclimate, which is milder than everywhere else, especially oop north. The lack of road salt in the winters, and low annual mileages mean London cars are usually battered and have terrible paint, but rust doesn’t tend to be an issue.

Yes I agree with that sentiment. In addition, what salt there is doesn't tend to splash over the cars as thickly as you rarely get above 20mph in London

Think if something is seized, it has to openly auctioned and sold to the highest bidder, otherwise all sorts of allegations of corruption would be made, quite possibly justifiably. As it is, he has the opportunity to buy it back if he wants. Imagine the fuss he'd make if it mysteriously appeared on Car and Classic for £2995,former celebrity owner!

This.

In 2023 a bailiff uplifting a car to cover a debt is pretty unusual due to modern immobilisers making boosting a car from a debtor a tricky task. This is why a bailiff will usually clamp the motor instead and use that as a negotiating tool.

I wonder how much it would have cost them to get it recovered, storage etc. Bear in mind they won’t get a penny out of Piers towards it, only the auction price for the car minus Copart fees.

If it was anything to do with the Council, about a million quid after they’ve all had a ‘drink’ out of it.

Drove past me in Putney yesterday, megaphone blaring out. Raised a smile. Also thought N-reg is late for one of these as that was Vectra territory...

Did the old fruitloop end up buying it back?

I believe so although I think he may have got fleeced due to other people bidding it up
