Had an operation on my arm at the beginning of November affecting my hand, that’s not gone right. If you see the Land Cruiser thread you’ll see I can’t break off a 12mm screw. Anything requiring a level of dexterity I can’t do properly either. However, a friend has a unit somewhere near Malvern and he’s offered the Rover a place there. Just requires a van to be shifted at their end (long story) and the Rover can be a grumpy cunt there. AnnoyingPentium, mercedade, Bear and 4 others 7

Hope things look up for you soon. That's a stroke of luck with the Rover though - another stay of execution! St.Jude 1

vaughant Posted February 28, 2025 Posted February 28, 2025 Now catching up with this 😬😬😬, but great news on getting it working to a point and showing how it certainly deserves to live again as it's such a fucking handsome looking car. yes oui si and 500tops 2

Lankytim Posted March 1, 2025 Posted March 1, 2025 Can an aftermarket high pressure pump with regulator be used instead of the original pump? I’m sure the banger boys do this with some success.

It doesn’t respond to the accelerator at all then struggles to keep idle. yes oui si 1
yes oui si Posted March 1, 2025 Posted March 1, 2025 Really hope you get this sorted. Feels like you're on the cusp of it. Please resist the temptation to do laps of the street windmilling when it happens.
St.Jude Posted April 7, 2025 Author Posted April 7, 2025 Slight update, ever so slightly good news hopefully too. I mentioned previously a friend and a friend of his have storage. My friend suggested it'd be ideal for the Rover, but his friend's mom's ex had a truck there and was being a silly cunt and not moving it. Well he's just text me saying the space is free now and is ripe for a Rover 827 to take it's place. Just finding out the finer details in terms of rent, as I don't want it stood anywhere for free. It's looking promising. I'll have to find a method of transport for it too as I had intended to rent a trailer when I had the Land Cruiser and shift it myself and I don't think the Subaru is going to be capable of hauling the Rover and a trailer. We'll see. Noel Tidybeard, SiC, comfortablynumb and 18 others 16 5

St.Jude Posted April 10, 2025 Author Posted April 10, 2025 Rental of sorts is agreed. It'll be moved at the end of the month to a new place in Malvern. Ish. It will now be costing me real money to store. But my mate and his mate are there too so at least there's more eyes on it. And I'm told it has a pit. So it's probably the best place for it. St.Jude Posted Saturday at 17:06 Author Posted Saturday at 17:06 So eh yeah. The rental didn’t happen. It didn’t guarantee any sort of inside storage and another lad I know has his car there and is a prick. So, it stayed put. Until today. It’s currently on my driveway at home. My wife is of course incredibly happy about it*. Essentially, around the time of the Peugeot debacle, my wife said “so when are you scrapping the Rover?”. News to me says I, and she said she thought I was “liquidating assets”. I said I was, but it wouldn’t be a fire sale either. There was a conversation in my head as to why this has suffered and the reason was essentially it’s too far from me to do meaningful work on it, and there were logistics of tools etc. As has been the case I’d turn up there and would’ve forgotten a tool, wasting a 2 hour round trip. I also reasoned, as has everyone else, there is money locked in the car. And I could really do with a win, because it’s fucking boring buying a car, it shitting its pants, and me wondering why I bothered. So on the basis of that conversation, I proposed a solution. Given she has made me have a 1 in 1 out policy, and the Peugeot was out, it meant I could - by her own metric - take the Rover home, on the proviso that if the car didn’t work/was MOT-less in 6 months then it would 100% be sent to a crusher. She said, quote, “fine whatever” in a huff. Yes means yes. Until it doesn’t. But I had the transporter booked by then so, y’know. Tomorrow I am going out and giving it a wash as my lad, who was a baby gleefully shitting in his nappy and would only babble when I bought it, is now old enough to want to “fix the car”. So, it would look better being clean rather than looking like it’s been dragged out of a lake. So 6 months gentlemen! It either runs or you’ll see it holding baked beans. *no, she fucking hates me. grogee, Marina door handles, RoadworkUK and 26 others 29
sierraman Posted Saturday at 17:36 Posted Saturday at 17:36 I’d roll with fixing it. Everyone deserves some sort of enjoyment and hobby. MrBig Posted Saturday at 23:16 Posted Saturday at 23:16 She can’t stay mad for long. I mean look how fucking good it looks just sat on the transporter! I have a real soft spot for an 827SLi fastback. My dad had one for a short period of time and it was the first car I ever went over 100mph in. Tasty V6 and big comfy seats and a ride that even spanking 150 grand on a Range Rover now won’t get you. 2 please. St.Jude and High Jetter 2

To be honest I know a lot of lads who hit 30, usually done really well for themselves as they've been quite sensible, realised they'd been quite boring and fallen into to the drugs/football scene through a bit of excitement. One person I knew who was super boring but had a really nice, successful Mrs, youngish kids, sold up in London and bought a big farmhouse in West Wales basically fucked it all off for a 19yr old girl in the office who loves a bit of the bag at the weekends. His old man even hired a P.I to follow him around after he got found out/went begging back to the Mrs claiming it was all a mistake as 19yr old had moved on of course and the whole Charlie usage/money owed to dealers, prostitution etc came out. His old man had a heart attack there and then 😱😱😱😱. He did survive though but I think their marriage etc didn't. St.Jude 1

Which some have despite their house still wearing garish 80's upgrades. They also particularly dislike me and my Mrs because we were the first "youngsters " at 30 in this part of the street who dared to rip all the shit "upgrades" from our house and make it nicer than theirs🤣🤣🤣. A new guy and his Mrs across the road have bought one of their old crews bungalow that's utterly fucked. Now in his defence he's not much of a talker, I think he lives the gym more than anything else. He was ok the first week or so he arrived, then started acting a bit of a prick to me for no reason. Turned out my direct neighbour, aka world's biggest cunt, had been taking photos of him burning stuff out the front and sent them into the council who had acted. Us having the only camera in our part of the street, naturally got the blame, assisted by the old horror in the corner as went straight over when she first saw him, befriended him and pointed at our camera as he must have mentioned the fire. Since then I think him and his Mrs have sussed were not the problem, as I've actually got footage from the CCTV of cunt neighbour taking the pictures which I think he's now been given and probably thought "hmmm that's not fun his camera". Imagine my delight when yesterday he had a shipping container delivered yesterday and sited outside his house as she was pulling up in the car..... Her face was FUCKING PRICELESS 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣...... But of course she can't say anything directly as they're "friends" 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣. Well played gym boy 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼. St.Jude Posted 17 hours ago Author Posted 17 hours ago Thanks all. I know exactly what @sierraman was getting at and he is right with what he’s saying. To be fair this morning she seems happy enough but I don’t think she’s looked out the window at it yet so! It will need welding once it starts. One sill is completely shot and I think the other side isn’t far behind. But these are things that were things 3 years ago so it’s expected. I should also point out that I do listen. @Lankytim said when he was round along with @Noel Tidybeard that he’d just clean it so it was nicer to work on. I didn’t see the point but found the power washer and gave my lad something to do. Before: After free child labour: It looks far better and highlights all the bits of rust it has. The scuttle was full of cookers and shit, so I cleaned that. Delightfully there is/was evidence of a (I hope) mouse that lived in the engine bay. As it is Birmingham and fairly sure there are rats about (other than what’s in the council). And I discovered this (located on top of the engine cam cover, nearest the bulkhead): Can’t work out exactly where the other wire for it has gone. I didnt spend much time looking for it either but will review the photos later and see if that’s rat/mouse damage. As I’ve never noticed it, unless some cunt has been perusing the engine while it’s been parked up. Not tried starting it yet, as I need to charge the battery and get my literature together. So what's the shipping container for then? We've 'rewilded' some of our front garden, not due to laziness, well perhaps a bit, but it certainly attracts more wildlife like hedgehogs and the occasional deer along with lots more birds. The neighbours on one side apparently aren't happy but I can live with that, especially as they're the 2 new Audis on the drive type and shop at Waitrose.
