Been a bit unwell over the weekend.

D&V with 7 motions (thats not political but about the same as political promises)

Nausea continued and yesterday I went to the village pharmacy for some anti emetics only to be told they can’t sell to me. I need a prescription.

SERIOUSLY?

So I go to the GP surgery.

Dimwit desk driver, programmed to defeat says no doctors, no appointments, no prescription, no way to get help.

Now, the NHS that MY TAXES PAYS FOR keeps telling us they are improving the services.

How the hell can I not even self medicate or self treat, in order to reduce pressure on their system.

So the AI ( A is for Absolute and I for Imbecile not Intelligence) behind the desk tells me that I can do an E-Consult request.

So I go sit in my car outside and go online to try booking an online consultation to get some vomit pills before I get to taste my own butthole only to receive this message below.

So I walk back indoors (even more pissed off) to see said AI operator boot out an elderly lady who placed a request two weeks ago (I spoke to her in front of AI ass) When AI was telling said older lady to go make an E-Consult appointment I cut in and showed her my “error message” to which her response was “Oh yes, we only allow bookings between 08.00 and 10.00 because we are busy”

FFS.

So the other 22 hours you can die or vomit your lungs out or have a cardiac arrest and they will tell you there are no appointments.

I am so pissed and disappointed in the NHS and the lack of service I have experienced on a basic level.

Maybe I am the one overreacting.

Maybe.

As a former, qualified General Nurse, Midwife (male version) Psychiatric nurse and Occupational Health Nurse and Audiometer, I am absolutely disgusted and disappointed in what many people have to put up with.

I have also been on the receiving end of absolutely incredible levels of treatment and care in the system (2019)

My head hurts.

It seems the GP service is where the health service is really failing,  get through them and see a actual proper doctor and you seem to get somewhere, coleague of mine has been going to the GP for 10 years with back issues, eventually lost it with them and demanded to see a consultant who takes a few scans takes one look and says the problem is obvious and easily fixed with minor surgery, he's booked in 6 weeks later for it, that's just one of several similar instances I know of in the last few months, for Christ's sake the GP even told my wife to go away and stop wasting her time for what turned out to be breast Cancer!

It's no suprise A&E is such a problem when half the patients should be seen by a GP but can't get to one.

Rant over,  look after yourself and get well soon.

sorry to hear your feeling out of fettle. eggs are a good food to bung up the back entrance without popping pills, where polo mints can also help relieve the nausea, maybe not entirely but they can help. also, flat cola can help with any stomach upsets. all worth trying while waiting several hours in urgent care! i thought some sort of anti sickness was available over counter?

i did recently discover that the local docs, has a doc at the local hospital and the local practice can allocate emergency appointments there. should be something similar your way i would imagine. fastest way to get seen although seems to be using 111 or the online service, but i guess people already know this and use this when a doc appointment is not available. my docs you have to call at exactly 8am to wait in a que. no idea who thought this up but it is stupid.

yes the system is struggling but it is stretched far beyond it was ever meant to. seems a lot of practices are training receptionists to guard appointments as though there secreted by unicorns. as i said there are emergency appointments but they seem to only give them to their friends.  hope you get mended soon

Thank you @SilverMachine and @kevins

polo mints/XXX in my case when driving to town to pharmacy and surgery.
i have only Pepsi Max but used vile tasting Tango grape to similar effect. About two to three hours per can and that was two cans in 18 hours.

Being a former nurse and working in healthcare plus a smidge of practical sensibility means I can navigate most of this physically and mentally but when I’m put at the mercy of the AI at reception who holds the velver purse of unicorn farts, when I am just trying to stop feeling like some teen star on pornhub etc (I have been told) I get a bit cranky.

I have had a response from E-consult that they may be in touch by 6,30pm on Valentines day.

❤️❤️❤️❤️ here’s to holding my breath.

Just re-reading your post Kevin.

That GP needs to be properly assaulted with some psychology and medical text books to teach him/her a few things.

Medicine is not Halfords.

be sure not to miss that call! id be ready waiting for it from 1pm, and give them at least till 8pm to call you for that slot.

and yes there are some doctors that don't know a headache from a broken leg, just try and avoid them

The Aftermath.

After getting the “go ahead “ from an unidentified nurse at the GP surgery (guess thats how they triage) on Tuesday afternoon I decided that driving between 12 and 25 miles to one of the three Urgent Care or Minor Injury Units near me in the late afternoon made less sense than my ongoing discomfort vs a traditional extended wait to be seen, sitting between all the locals and not so locals, plus facing traffic on our lovely roads.

So I kept drinking fluids and sat around deciding that if I felt sufficiently shit the next day I would go attend a clinic. Which typically did not happen as I felt reasonably well. With the nausea just constantly bubbling under the surface.

But by Friday morning I woke up feeling pretty shit again. An ongoing headache that was there constantly since Monday and a blood pressure check on Thursday made me get a small cooler bag with survival food, some juice and full charge on the phone ready.

So I headed to the nearest UTC at Gravesham Community Hospital.
Arriving there via SatNav directions the carpark was full and boom opened when someone left.
Parked up, grabbed a handful of change as instructed at the boom gate and headed in.
After struggling to find the right entrance and then right service, I took my space in line behind 9 hapless people and shuffled my way forward till it was my turn to speak clearly into the intercom. Four tries to get my 4 letter surname into their IT system had me show my phone screen to her surprise that worked.
Then the weirdest experience of signing in:
A small sign on a tongue depressor (I SHIT YOU NOT) enquiring Religion and Ethnicity. Bit of a WTF moment.
Eventually pointed at the 40 or so chairs and told to sit down.
3-5 minutes later a really competent make nurse called Pascal from Nigeria (yes I asked) called me in for triage, BP, Pulse and a few questions later I was sitting on a different chair waiting.
Less than 10 minutes later I was called in by a lady in scrubs who turned out to be Dr Patel. Parentage from India and Uganda.
Friendly, thorough, caring and not her first rodeo, she was like a real doctor, chasing various aspects of what brought me there including rolled up eyes when I apologised for my surgery not seeing me and when I mentioned they had been shut by CQC before.
Up on the examination table, she pushed and prodded my belly like a real old fashioned doctor would, clearly loving the fact that I complement her on technique and being the first doctor to actually touch me in over 10 years.
Some advice on keeping hydrated as she felt I was not sufficiently hydrated, and most importantly, a prescription for Stemetil (Prochlorperazine) which I had originally wanted from pharmacy or my GP surgery.

I said my thank yous and headed out.

All done in under an hour.

Why are more services not at this level.

Picked up the prescription at a different pharmacy as my local pharmacy did not keep it in stock.

So now back to your normal transmission.

Glad you had a better experience with the walk in centre than I did here.  Mine was waiting for nearly three hours in the world's most uncomfortable chair then speaking to a nurse for approximately 30 seconds before getting told that I had no reason to be there and needed to see my GP.  Yeah, I've been trying to do that now for over a year.  Thanks for that.

Fuckit !!!!

I get so angry at hearing people treat patients like this.

My bar was exceptionally low.

Honestly zero expectations.

So I hit a jackpot.

I was thankful.

Very.

@Zelandeth I cannot remember if you in your ownership of the Caddy had issues with the keyfob remote opening??

The key itself doesn’t open the drivers door, and I have not bothered with it.

So now reduced to locking and unlocking the rear door when I need to secure it, I obviously have to address the keyfob remote.

I opened it and changed the batteries to no avail, the little red light on the key still blinks but no opening.

So before I went back in your thread I thought asking about it is something of a shortcut.

Any memories??

Thanks.

PS. You had also given me some door handle mechanisms that I put away so safely that I could not find them again. Grrrr.

When I got it the fob didn't work (and was also entombed in tape for reasons unknown).  I went through the process to sync it with the vehicle again and it worked perfectly ever after that for me.  I can't remember the procedure I'm afraid but I'm pretty sure it was in the handbook.

glad you got seen so quickly! hopefully now can get to the root cause of your discomfort and hopefully keep it at bay. seems its best to expect nothing from these services to be impressed. @Zelandeth did they get you a appointment with your gp for you after your wait?

Nope, just told to see my GP.  Who booked in a phone appointment which they then (again) failed to make, instead sending me the angry letter telling me I'd missed my appointment and that I'd have to rebook.  Which was the third time that cycle had repeated, at roughly 12 weeks each time.

I'm basically just resigned to the fact that this isn't getting seen to until we move now - which means I hope it's benign.

Really really annoying part is that all I need from the bloody GP is a referral letter to the private cover I have though my husband's work.  However this is something for which they can't accept self-referrals for - and the lass I last spoke to there really did spend a lot of time trying to find a loop hole for me.  She couldn't have been more helpful, but at the end of the day she's not the one who writes the rules.

Might this be worth checking the number they are trying to ring you on?

So the Rezin Rockit has very much been on the back burner since summer.

Amazingly its a year since I took it in for its first MOT test which it passed straight away.

Not used much because I have 4 vehicles on the drive and when employed a company car that  I use on the way home for groceries etc.

In preparation for this years fresh MOT I went though all the various things that I could check and test at home.

The one brake light did not come on.

https://youtu.be/s48unyqG0Y0?si=qzzy41qvRmf3BKoX

So I looked at the obvious, the bulb was fine, connecting seemed good.

Stumped. Easy for me to be stumped.

So I sent the video above to Nick Wheeler by text requesting his help. Of course he was going to come last weekend which turned into a shitshow   Literally.

So we cancelled.

Then he came yesterday and we ean through the usual checklist.

He checked the lightbulb and found there was no continuity despite the filament being intact.

Then dropped and smashed it.

I dug out my reserve bulbs, Nick checked and found one he liked.

We had already checked the rear light fittings and all was good.

So a bit of scotch pad and emery paper to clean up the contacts plus tensioning the fitting meant take 2.

Successful

01DC25B3-547C-47BD-8206-453DBB3B465F.jpe

Happy too.

6CAC8105-7800-4E90-BF94-AE779B78741C.jpe

So I washed and cleaned the Rezin Rockit in preparation for a hopeful MOT test on Monday if weather conditions permit and of course I need an appointment.

Fingers crossed.

Once I have a fresh MOT it will be up for sale as I do need the space.

sounds like a request to speak with the practice manager is called for before a chat with the CQC- and let them know this is your intention

had to do it for step-daughter who went 6 weeks without "the pill"- got appt the same day amazingly!
