Possibly the Aston Martin Bulldog, but considering all the woes they had with the Lagonda it was probably for the best that they passed on this.

You know that's been restored?

I posted this elsewhere last week but it is worth repeating here.

The shots of the wibbly whining wobbly doors opening and closing suggests they hadn't spent a fortune on this prototype.

Let's keep it positive. I love this one.

And I really love the way the interior was going. I find it hard to believe that the gear shift would have a hope in hell of working.

Fortunately steaming big chunks of the car did make it into production.

When I was an Engineering student, at Coventry Poly, I used to go and look at the final year project exhibits of the Industrial and Automotive design course.  All very wacky.

This is mine.... from 18 years ago. It's a concept for an amphibious commuter car to make use of the Thames for direct access to central London. Uses a hybrid hydroplane / trimaran hull with retractable wheels. Sadly the model is a bit the worse for wear these days.

I used to love the Ferrari Pinin as a kid. Had it in a book I got for Christmas.

Proportions look a bit off these days though but were fine back then to me.

(apparently this or an identical one got as far as being UK road registered)

Small bit about the Activa amongst other futuristic options like tinted glass, in the 1989 Motor Review. 20221005_133315.thumb.jpg.f56776c5307558c1f020ab6e148b82f5.jpg

Who'd want to drive that?  Hareton Senna?

Always liked the Fiat Ecobasic 2000. The Panda is ace, but I'd rather drive this.

I was trying to remember what it was called. I remember seeing it at a show and being impressed despite the gawky looks.

It looks like it's designed to be driven by someone thats given up caring.  Therefore needs 250 bhp and 4x4

They toyed with the idea, but mk1 Cactus sales weren't what they wanted.

Yebbut the BMW I7 uses a similar headlamp arrangement:

I agree; the Doblo owes much to this rather wonderful concept car- which would look fresh if launched now! 😎
