A couple of months ago I spotted a Cupra Formentor unmarked car with a slim light-bar across the roof. Heading into Newcastle.

I bet this would give you a canny run for your money.

Unmarked cars don't usually have a bar on the roof, they're usually hidden in the grille and windows.

Might have been a fire chief* car as they usually have a small bar on.

I had a Corgi model, with steering controlled by twiddling the blue beacon on the roof. Can't remember the livery though.

Trust Ford currently have an Armoured Transit for sale, £32k. A quick browse on eBay suggests an ex Turkish Embassy S500 for sale as well.

I wonder if any of the ex PSNI armoured Vectras are still about?

I spoke to someone who knew about these and they are all scrapped. A relatively recent Autocar article about buying used Police cars appears to back that up.

Wouldn't be surprised if some* slip through the net* though.

Usually this sort of stuff is scrapped so people can work out the vulnerability points.

I heard the Met had all the ones for front line use fitted with round steering wheels from Marinas.

Supposedly some unmarked police cars were easy to spot because the registrations were in the same blocks as the patrol cars, I'm sure this was eventually noticed!

This may* have been the case with Peugeot 309 cars in the Garden of England. The infamous UKO batch...
