I rather like that R5 having owned a couple. But the 1720 miles havent been kind to it have they? I think thats in Romford, Essex as it looks familiar. The coolant certainly looks pretty rusty for a mere 1720 miles but I suppose if its original its not done bad over 22 years. Still shouldnt be that rusty though should it?

Brammy, are you still rebuilding that Astra at college? If so do you guys need a spares car?http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1989-VAUXHALL-AST ... 335c4de251I remember driving my Bro-in-Laws one of these and being blown away by the performance.

Ah dear god, I wish that was closer, thats literally perfect. And new wings and a sill with it! Neat colour, much better than our ones china blue. I hate that colour. I tell you what, even for a MKII, that one has managed to rust round the rear arches quite heroically.

With the Lucidas it may be a lot more wrong than the head gasket, the heads are prone to cracking and warping as well.

In the words of Avid Merrion, I f*cking love this!

Yellow, AND pov spec. No better or cheaper way to stand out amongst the crowd I say!

and changes gear very smoothly, although I sometimes need two or three attempts to select reverse

having owned four allegros in the last twenty years

It has been pointed out to me that there is an instruction on the gear knob reverse position, saying 'lift'. Amazingly, if you lift the lever the car goes into reverse very easily!

Muppet!
"(these photos were recently taken to illustrate suitability for film work, hence no engine photo)"

Flunked the audition then I assume?

Back in t' day every Allegro I ever went in had a loose rear seat base. I don't know why though. Do the owners enjoy a bit of back seat rumpy pumpy more than most?

:shock::shock::shock: Theres just more solid class there than I can deal with.

:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

What an absolute spacker. If anyone wins that heap of shit they should get the engine out within an hour then weigh the rest in. Honestly one of the worse cars I've ever seen.

No, it's just a really crap method of holding it in place - tuck it under the seat back and push it behind the two small tabs welded to the floor.I really do want another Allegro. The 1100 Deluxes is a really miserable thing isn't it? Blanking plates where the reverse lights should be - tight arses!

That 305 was on before wasnt it? I guess someone who didnt want to pay 'won' it last time round. Theres only one of these around this area, an estate in Old Basing. I had the chance to photo it a few months ago when the cover rotted off but its got a new one. Its gradually getting blown off....Im suprised no one on here has a Stellar, someone buy that one.

and for any fearless midgets

THIS VEHICLE IS UNBELIEVABLE AS YOU CAN SEE. WE HAVE BEEN TOLD IT HAS A TOP SPEED OF 250MPH BUT HAVE NOT TESTED IT FOR MAXIMUM POWER AND SPEED. 507HP WAS DYNOED AND 250MPH IS APPROX.

I would certainly hold your coat for the test drive

Here's an Espero. Not far from H. Dirst's manor either. How about it Hirst - fancy celebrating your new-found fame by splashing out on some crisp Bertone styling?

For a 1990s car I have always liked the look of the Espero. Also I have always wanted to own a mark 2 Cavalier. As the Vauxhall is becoming a much endangered species then maybe a giffer-owned Espero would be the way to go?
