Yup. If anyone local (Southcoast-Chichester-ish) wants to help it would be VERY much appreciated.I also think I owe some of you a vote of thanks.I don't yet know the details --but understand from their Solicitor that their Ebay items were barraged with ''nonsense''.Obviously-I know nothing of that- but if it rings a bell- THANKYOU.Going to be an interesting week!

I'll be available on Friday if you need any help...
Me too.

1991 Vauxhall Carlton 3000 GSi 24v Auto

After the recent love shown for the Carlton GSi anyone fancy a pop on this one, MOT until August and has a BIN of £650.

Hi, Been lurking around this forum for some time and find it really interesting. I used to be an avid reader of Jalopy magazine and this site is right up my street.

I really fancy the idea of importing a car from France.

Used to have one similar to this, haven't seen an early Sierra on the road for ages!

My favourite of several Renault 14's on there, really like that colour, suits the car well.

Description makes your eyes bleed but seems to have been well looked after and damned good vfm.

Not far from here* and extremely tempting but money is planned elsewhere.

*Same town as Pete is getting his SD1 from I think.

These are so chic. Imagine one of these blepping round town in the sunshine, all the chrome polished up and that, with a sunnies-wearing urban hottie at the controls. Ace! €950 buys this one. Obv the town would have to be somewhere nice, not Crewe.

I'm in love with that little 'bianchi. Is Brighton nice enough? i'm not an urban hottie though. anyhoo:

DKW Junior -500e

Imagine how much fun it would be trying to find all the bits to restore this eh? Still, I love these things. have had major Want for one of these since my pre-teens

^^^^ what actually is that? looks like it's the love child of a ford anglia and an early vauxhall viva :D

Posted

I have seen 3 of those little DKW's nicely nestled in a dry Nissan hut, about 10 miles from me.He's got shed loads of spares too...& happy to sell/swop with genuine parties. So go buy it - I'll give you the number.

RedSparrow, that metro van looks totally shagged, but it's probably worth saving because there are probably less than 10* Vans still running. Nice valance!*completely arbitrary figure based on the fact that I haven't seen one 'for ages'Bickle - nice to know there are some in the UK, I thought they were totally extinct here now (I dont think they were ever imported officially, actually), no chance of me buying that though as I have neither a driving licence (d'oh!), nor the ability to get it home from France, or the skills needed to do anything with it(actually I wouldn't know one end of a spanner from the other, and I dont own so much as a socket set). I'm hoping to 'work my way up' to taking on some hopeless project like that within, say, the next 5 years, but I dont think an obscure German two-stroke woulod be the best place to start my car-fixing education. I'm sure i'd have lots of welding practice with it though. In fact it's looking like I wont be getting a car at all until next year now (see grumpy thread at some point later for full explainations..)

I think it would be class to get that DKW, fix it up, then put 'thunderbird' badges on it. Maybe make a Lincoln continental-style rear bumper with a little spare wheel wedged in it. Then turn up to all the americana shows in it in a brown tassled PVC leather jacket and stetson, saying 'Hey buddy! this is a one horse town' to other show goers in a wobbly german accent. That would keep me entertained all day i reckon.

Posted

I think you'll find that the Auto Union did deliver us a proper mini-Thunderbird! The 1000.

I love those SP coupes, totally bonkers but somehow quite a successful design really, you wouldn't know how small it was until you stood next to it. They did a convertable version of the F12 too which looked pretty nice.

I saw a Metro van only last month, Although it was tatty the one on eBay is in a different league!

1988 Renault Savanna 1.7 GTS

This is tidy but overpriced at £795 with no mot or tax IMHO.

Posted

That savanna is funking cool-ade. I was just thinking the other day that you rarely see even the late ones now. I was really gutted when my dad didn't buy one as considered when they first came out, instead opting for a beige mongtego instead. Unforgivable.

I feel your pain - my dad had a Savanna identical to that one (E338YNC) which was a lovely car. He then got offered a company car in 1990 and, after almost deciding on a diesel Savanna, he changed his mind and went for a Montego DLX estate instead as it was cheaper. To be fair the Monty wasn't that bad of a car, but it had a lot less "cred" with my mates at school than the Renner would have done.I pass a tidy metallic green M-reg Savanna every day on my way into work. Owner is presumably a Renner enthusiast as they had a C-reg R4 on the driveway for a time last year.
Posted

Crikey, we can all relate to this one then! My Dad also had estate car options, and also ended up with a Montego (actually, he had two 1.6Ls pre and post facelift) whereas I desperately wanted either a Renner 21 or BX. Both of which I own now which makes up for it a bit at least. Haven't had a Montego yet...

We had an N-reg 21 Savanna at a company I worked at when I was about 19/20. It was the first proper modern car I ever drove (not counting my dad's Maestro)!

There was a DKW at the bubble car museum, probably still have it:
