I swear Pog posted a 8v Mk3 Cav SRi in faded red, with white wheels. Honest.

It's also a shame that it has white painted wheels and a K&N airfliter despite seller's blurb i.e 'she is totally standard never been modified at all just original sri spec'.

Although that wouldn't really put me off because that's about the ultimate Cavalier. Right bodyshape, right interior and the best 8V engine ever made.

Not in any way, shape or form. that is lovely. I like those Ferraris, too, after years of hating them.

Posted

IIRC the Regata's bumper doesn't fold down, but is attached to the tailgate like a GS, Think this was introduced on the Tempra.

Posted

Is it different from the Mk2 Cavalier engine then?

I believe the last mk2s had the same engine in the SRi130.

What even is the point? It's not tax-free, I fail to see how the ID from an 80s mini is desirable to anyone? Or am I missing something here?

The impression I got was that it could be used to ring a stolen car. Quite amusing though, the blatant "ring ring wink wink" of the advert, with the V5C, numberplates and chassis plates all together in that photo.

RONG.

Those Regata's deffo have a flip-down bumper for easy loading.

I remember my dad getting one as courtesey when his Croma was being serviced. Hours of fun for a young Pog flipping bumper up, flipping bumoer down.

He's always at it. If you look at his feedback someone bought a Mini van off him that turned out to be just a V5 and tags.

I've always wanted a Mini special and I thought £75 was a steal, so I pressed buy it now. Sent him a message asking for postcode and is the car rolling and strange enough, he didn't reply but instead opened a dispute saying I no longer wanted the car and I bought it in error. So I fired it back saying I didn't accept that and I want the car. After all, he does mention the car in the advert and he cant say about the pic he put as it's neither red, a Mini special or even a Mini built in 1979.

It'll be fun.

Mk2 SRi models had the 1.8 8V and two 2.0 ones. One was something like 118bhp, the other was the 130 lump. Something like C20NE and C20SE iirc.

I had heard of some early Mk3s having the less powerful (of the two) engines, and the 1.8, but never sure if that was just bollocks.

Anyhow the 130 engines are fantastic, the torque/poke in third gear alone was ace, especially if you wellied it in first and second. They take incredible abuse and can easily cope with the very basic of maintenance too.

Me thinks perhaps he should have blanked the number plate off the tax disc. I can see the MOT station getting a visit from the friendly chaps at VOSA
