Is that 604 the same one wuvvum looked at buying a few months back?

Nope, that one was silver. I'll be keeping an eye on this one though as it looks like it could be somewhat cheaper. Are the autoboxes on these the same as the Volvos?

That's what had happened, I guess the old boy was a bit clueless as he was trying to bump the tyres up, Unless he was letting air out of them to make the ride softer?, What happened it was totally collapsed onto it bumpstops.

DOES START AND DRIVE BUT HAS MAJOR OIL LEAK AND THE ENGINE SOUNDS BROKEN. THE CAR WAS RUNNING FINE TILL IT BROKE TIMING BELT, SINCE THEN THE HEAD WAS REMOVED VALVES REPLACED SKIMMED AND PRESSURE TESTED AND REFITTED WITH NEW TIMING BELT KIT ECT. THE GARAGE THAT WAS DOING THE WORK HAS NOW CLOSED DOWN AND MY CAR HAS BEEN LEFT UN REPAIRED

I THINK THE HEAD HAS NOT BEEN TORQUED DOWN CORRECT SO HAS MAJOR LEAK OF OIL FROM HEAD GASKET AND MAYBE MORE WORK REQUIRED.

That sounds prettty grim

JUST NOTICED THE GARAGE HAS PUT THE WRONG NUMBER PLATE ON THE FRONT OF THE CAR, THE REAR IS THE CORRECT PLATE

What? AVOID

That Tyre-sure chap is selling this little gem, but i think the £1000 starting price is a tat optimistic though!

Hot date? Not anymore!

'Rucnorn', I wonder if that is near Runcorn?

£900 looks like top dollar for a bit of shed like that, shame really.

I would really love this, I'm sure it was on ebay a few weeks back for around £1500 as well.

^^^ That's pretty late for a Viva. When did they stop production?

i know of a t plater for sale and ive seen a v reg so i would say 79 must be the last off them.i like how he says in the add ive had it 2 weeks then further down 1 owner from new

Viva was supplanted by the Astra in 1980. It really must have been a total revelation to step out of an HC into an Astra.

When the Time Team eventually visit Wirral they may unearth a considerable stash of Viva parts stolen from the factory back in the 70's. A family friend who worked there was tipped off that he was going to get a visit from the Police/GM security and buried loads of stuff on a beach! I think he was trying to do a "Johnny Cash" but failed!

This looks good, The same as Binhookers but with only 47000 miles, Tax until June and a years ticket for £395!

Wasn't the Viva binned for the Mk1 Cavalier?

I don't know, a 1256-equipped HC is pretty frumpy and unexciting, and does not really do anything exciting (unless it snows!), wheras even the Astras with the crappy old Opel pushrod lump can really be hammered along of you are brave enough. For an early foray into mass-market FWD bland hatchbacks for a major manufacturer, they really were quite good, very grippy.

No. Mk1 Cavalier was really the replacement for the FE Victor.

I think you could get the Mk1 Cav with the 1256 lump. It even had a much shorter gearlever IIRC.

The Viva had a comically short, and bent, gear lever. IIRC the Chevette's was slightly longer and straight. The Chevette was really the replacement for the Viva but for some reason they forgot to stop making the Viva. The same thing happened when the Astra came out, the Chevette soldiered on for several years.I've driven HC Vivas and Astras and I'd pick the Viva all day long. I was quite shocked at how unpleasant the Astra was to drive.

This must be the single most fun fact about Wirral :)

1985 Ford Transit 2.0 Minibus

Hey Fred, How about this, only done 35000 miles and owned by a church, Bodyworks a bit crusty though but still taxed and moted for £995.

How about this http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Rover-Montego-2-l ... 3caa68ec70Only needs core plugs (apparantly)

is it compulsory on your main shot to not fit the whole car in and miss a big chunk of the front?
To be fair they partially explained that in the addition to the listing (near the bottom). I'd love that but is it right that duff core plugs means it won't start? Surely it would start but just chuck coolant/whatever out?I wonder if overheated and cooked the engine or blew the h/g?
