Looks like that Cavalier on the previous page was destined for the oval, but we seem to have a racer with a conscience!!

purchased with the intention to race, but after picking this car up and speaking to the previous owner and he said he had spoken to the classic vauxhall owner club and there was about 14 of these cavaliers still on the roads in this country(dont know if its true or not)after looking around the car i realised the car was far to good to race.the car

That Seat Van is the bollocks.

This isn't old, or particularly shite at all - but in the days of shitty 'leisure' ANIMAL stickered wank mobiles, this looks refreshingly cool:

Slightly more allied to this site, for whatever reason I've always liked these Renault/Dodge things, it's possibly because they look American. And shite.

Cool body coloured front bumper too.

That's the same as my old one, except mine was white and the front bumper was made of Armco. Identical to that otherwise, including the spec which just flops over to one side when not in use. I wouldn't want to tow a LWB Transit too far with it though - I put my LT40 van on the back of mine once to see if it would cope and the truck did a wheelie when I pulled away.

Assuming that one is over 3500kg GVW (which most of them are), it would be MoT exempt being a spec lift. Only if it was being used strictly for recovery purposes though - you wouldn't get away with using it as a transporter.

What a shameful rip-off of my Great Wall CC1098! Bloody Japanese ripping off Chinese designs*

They haven't even got the chassis calculations right - I can't see the prop shaft scraping the floor-pan of that on bumpy roads. And where's the silly side stripes?

Electric windows? Pah! And worst of all, they've got the interior all wrong. There is more space and comfort in those back seats of that than there is in my genuine 4 door. And it's a grand and a half more than I paid for the CC1098 when new.

A Hilux won't have the character of the Great Wall. My 80PS 2.2 pez will be much more "characterful" than a 2.4 diesel - more frequent fuel stops mean more stops for smoking cigarettes and leg stretching. The bodywork of a Great Wall is more environmentally friendly. It is designed to preserve the lives of animals that it hits

The water buffalo was quoted as saying "yeah, it was moving so slowly that I thought it was stationary, so I crossed the road. It was like being biffed with a sorority girl's pillow. Glad it wasn't a Hi-Lux, heh heh. That would have hurt!"

Also, the Great Wall has a moods. It can do the following:

Mean and moody

DSC00330.jpg

"Guys, can we stop? I'm knackered. That was a 1:12 ascent. Need to get my breath back" A Hi-lux would not be so communicative

DSC00332.jpg

"Hey look, you can open both my side doors and I don't snap in the middle. Aren't you proud of me?"

DSC02871.jpg

Whereas the Hi-Lux has electric windows, the Great Wall has an automatic ventilation system. Simply drive over a pot-hole and the window automatically pops out. Now there's clever.

Ah but how many Taliban fighters could you fit on the rear deck? GR8 4 being blown up by Hellfire missles

Neither joke nor exaggeration - I have had 18 in that with the back box on! Driver, 2 on passenger seat, 4 across the back and 11 crammed into the back. Not much room for RPG's and AK47's though, so I would suggest only 12 if they were heavily armed. O, and they were Chinese fitters and welders, not extremist fighters.

I think the yellow bumper on this model is infact a counterbalance weight for towing such things as LWB transits!

13B engine has 146bhp according to Google so yeah, bit more than an inline :) They also qualify for cheap tax as the V5 just has the CC on it, bonus!

I honestly thought you were taking the p'ss with your comment! Hence the wink

I think all the cosmos were turbo so probably morew like 250bhp, or if it were the triple-rotor more like 300.

It's a twin turbo, so 235 bhp if its a the 13B-RE engine.

If it has the 13B-REW it could be anything up to 280 bhp.

Aren't UK spec Mazda rotaries rated to something like 2.3l?

Indeed it will be test exempt for the reasons mentioned above. With the way VOSA are these days though anything like this would need to be in perfect working order or they'll rip you a new arsehole and charge you well into three figures or more for the pleasure.

Seen a few Transit spec's with weighted front bumpers, their working life seems to be less than impressive on the whole because the chassis soon resemble a banana when people attempt to lift/tow vans etc with them.

Dodge will have some form of Perkins engine I'm sure which will have more torque than a room full of women then run out of steam at 36.17822mph.

Yup - this year would have a 4.236. 3.8 litres, 75bhp and, like you say, an imperial feckload of torque. Top speed depends on diff ratio - mine did 63 flat out.
