1980 Ford Cortina 3.0 V6Now this on the other hand is the dogs bo11ox, It has a tuned 3.0 V6 with a 5 speed manual gearbox, I think it's the first Mk4-5 I've seen that i do really like, The colour, wheels everything just looks righ to me.Just a shame i haven't got £2750 to by it, Or a ticket to Ireland.

I like that 'Tina, but I think I'd be peeling off the V6 badges and putting on a set of rusty steelies instead of those Scorpio alloys for the full Q-car effect. :D

This maestro was in my watch list last week, was on without reserve and sold for £180.

Winning bidda is clearly a bit of an eBay PLAYA as he has lobbed it straight back on at £1100 BIN! He's not even put a new ticket on! It runs out in 2 months.

Hopeful I think. You simply cannot make £900 with no effort, on an old poverty-spec Maestro.

I didn't say they took your engine apart by the side of the road. A fuel line is hardly a cylinder head is it? You can take a fuel filter off without damaging anything too. .

Not the later plastic XUD9 ones - they are a right bastard.

Ahhh Righto. I thought you were referring to the common myth that the red stains your inner workings of the engine for eVah and that once used that you can whip the head off and see if its been running on red. And that thats what customs men did.

As I mentioned Trelly runs his wagons on blue dyed diesel to deter drivers from siphoning it out for their own use or to sell on. I know there are "chemical" markers present in red that filtering the dye out doesnt remove, though quite how long these would hang around for if you used white diesel and changed the filters I wouldnt like to say. Personally I doubt if its that long.

But anyways, surely before they go dismantling bits of fuel lines / engines and what not they would have to have reasonable grounds to do so. I would be well upset if some bloke started pulling bits of my car to pieces by the side of the road. Thats my job.

There was a spate of dawn raids hereabouts coupled with roadside checks probably due to Rydal garages selling a shitload of red in 20L drums for not a lot of pennies.

Top Tip - if buying red from the garage - dont do it in your own car as the customs blokes sit watching and make a note of the reg numbers

I've run a couple of cars (off road of course) on red diesel and it doesn't visibly stain anything.I think it's a nonsense that signs of red diesel linger for ages and can be traced years after the event.

Got 'tugged' for running on cherryade in the past, they knew it HAD run on it, but couldn't tell when, as the tank was full of full-price at that time. Decided not to risk it thereafter!I think they'd got wind there was 4 or 5 of us drawing dizzle off at a friendly farm, and I got the short straw but lucked it.

I know where this is, it's a dealer in Castleford with some really hopeless stock. I used to see a weird early 90s Oldsmobile coupe for ages (think it was an Achieva) and it eventually ended up on his lot and seemed to be there for at least 6 months with the price gradually ticking down. I'll take the weird route to work to see how long it takes with this!

I put an offer in of £185 for the Maestro - it was rejected. Shall we bombard him with derisory offers?

I won't be joining in. Knowing my luck, I'd end up with it.

I'd love to see that (or at least the forum posts following the unexpected purchase)

This is nice apart from the crappy backbox.

The spare wheel well has been modified slightly by the previous owner in order to fit the fancy back box.

Tossers.

Just nail an old sunroof onto the top of the screen surround and fill the remaining space with Isopon.
