Without raising my fists in a 'Brad Pitt in Snatch' style, what's the answer? Brizzle pretty bad for vehicle clag. Agree one size doesn't fit all, but what's a better way to still achieve the results?

I don't know, I just know that THE GUBBERMINT SHOULD DO SOMETHING.

In fairness yes, I dare say it will largely work and we do have a decent bus service into the centre. I think my resentment comes from the fact that running an older car is seen as an environmental crime, whereas buying something new which has required huge quantities of lithium and cobalt and whatever to be dug out of the ground, and which will then go to landfill as soon as someone scrapes it in a car park because of insurance, is seen as green.

I can't really blame BCC for banning my Berlingo because it presumably emits lots of particulates as well as co2 (150ish g/km). But it does seem a bit silly that the Saab was OK for the ULEZ (244 g/km) whereas the new car (127g/km) will not be (it has a DPF). And surely all of the above are better than chopping them in for a new car...?

tl:dr my problem isn't actually with the CAZ itself, I'm just grumpy and miserable.

Nice to have a reasoned debate without anyone foaming at the gills. This is probably one for the Politics section but hey, you've got time to kill on your journey.

I guess the particulates is the 'problem du jour' and they are pretty nasty. But we're only driving those things because the previous regime forced us into low-CO2 vehicles, and diesels ticked that box.

It is a bit mental that the Saab would be allowed to enter and do endless wheelspins inside the CAV zone.

Saw something on Twatter earlier calling out Hyundai as hypocrites for building both electric vehicles but also coal power stations. I don't know what to think about that.

EVs also generate their own particulates from brakes and tyres so that will be 2050's topic of debate. Who knows what the answer is?

Safe travels.

These are odd trains. They seem to have an engine car in the middle which you can walk through, only about a third of the length of a normal car. Then presumably they can add as many coaches as are required on either side, with a cab at each end.

It's a bit flat and bleak out here.

Wroxham has 'Roys of Wroxham' which is a set of independent shops, only to be found in Wroxham.  Frightening now how that is such a special thing.  Good luck with your trip.

Not quite true - there is a Roys in North Walsham - and a couple of other local towns too. But Wroxham is Roys and the river.

I used to drift (yo) a Defender 110 and twin axle trailer around that car park in my younger days as they'd spread the gravel about 1 foot thick in places. No end of coaches getting stuck too.

YET being the operative word I expect. Give it a year.

I thought we had a 12 month extension with the Van till 2022,  and I didn't think any actual motorways were included? I may well be wrong though.

We are about a mile and a half inside the zone. We may  have a possibility of parking  just outside the zone, but it's a pain to hit the M62 on that side.

Chodspeed in your fine chariot, that will get you home fine I'm sure.

Gutted that Brizzle ulez bollox might have been a reason you sold your berlingo as I was going to offer a swap for my pez one and cash for it but I think you've done a lot better with the Renaldus.

The spanner is simply to remind the driver what one looks like.

Owners of modern Renaults forget as they never need to use one, because Renault

Winner's MPV. It even looks clean! Worth about six trains and a Megabus I'd say.

May your MAF sensor be dependable for the return journey and forevermore after that.
