Very nice actually JJ. Any bites on the camper yet?

Chap came to see it yesterday, has just messaged half an hour ago saying can he come and collect it at 8pm… so it should be sold! He’s not even test driven it though!

Fingers crossed pal. Test drive in this instance doesn't really mean owt. You know its right. Personally amazed that folk will commit to something they haven't driven but in this case we know he's buying a gudun 👍

Camper has gone!

Now we’re down to just my Connect and Mrs JJ’s Berlingo.

That does free up a space on the driveway though 👀

Nah, got to be sensible. Once I settle up this camper money on the bank loan I took out for it in the first place, I’ll have no debts at all for the first time in years!

You could take the double seat out and fit a drivers seat for headrest, maybe.

Arm rest may cock that up though.

After one journey without the bulkhead, I’m just going to cut a Labrador head sized hole in it and put it back in. Jesus, massive difference in noise without it in. The Berlingo is much better in that sense. This was extremely loud without it in!

Have ordered some U trim so will just angle grind something like this out and trim the edge so it’s safe

That connect looks nice. When I saw the mention of connect in the thread I was expecting something with a schutz tidemark up to the door handles.

They're a nice motor those Connects, well bought.

Joy of new van to you. If you cut a "dog slot" in the bulkhead you'll likely just provide a port for the noise from the back to get into the cab. Pull the ply lining and put some sound proofing like dynamat on the sides and roof to reduce the noise at source. It'll be pleasanter for the dogs too.

Idly thinking , you wanted Aircon for the dogs, but if there's a bulkhead, how much difference does it make to the rear body temperature?

Not trying to find fault, just interested in how it'd work?

Think @Sunny Jimis right with the sound deadening idea, you've got experience in that area 😁

So here’s what I’ve come up with for now 😂

allows for both passenger headrests to be kept, middle seatbelt is kept, and there’s a Labrador head sized slot for when he likes to put his nose through to the front…

Will see how noisy it is later! I’ve also ordered some sound deadening too. Might insulate it as well depending on how it sounds…

Some of that knock on panel trim from Woolies. Stop him from lacerating himself. Otherwise bob on 👍

Too big!

If that was one of my gsd's, there'd be a dog sitting on my lap before I'd actually got off the drive....😁

Cutting that cross beam has probably removed a lot of strength from the panel.
I doubt it will have been engineered with much extra strength added that wasn't needed so the seatbelt mounting may be considered compromised.

Would be interesting to see what is fitted in vehicles without the bulkhead.

When I was van shopping a lot of years ago you couldn't get aircon without the bulkhead, on a Renault Traffic, as it wasn't powerful to cool the space without the bulkhead in place.

Ones without a bulkhead just have two single seats so there’s no middle one to worry about.

It will definitely have compromised the strength of the middle belt, but that’s not in use and to be honest I have no idea how you’d ever get a middle passenger in the seat, it’s tiny.

As and when we sell the van, I can easily replace the bulkhead if needs be - this has made the van functional for us.

What stops the dogs from sliding about in the back? IS their weigh on the cushions enough?

Envisaging this kind of scenario (very sweary language)

We use these 👍 now it’s got the hole in the bulkhead I’ve put them on full extension and round the passenger headrests attached to the harness. Works well!

Loop goes round the headrest and clip attaches to their harness?

Plates on today, might have to order a full size set as the short ones look shit.

Very pleased with the van though, just like driving a car but just really handy.

Im sure I’ll change my mind in a couple of months but for now, great choice.

Well bought! That looks really smart in Limited spec. Those Connects are definitely the most car-like small vans to drive from my experience. Also the TDCI engine in these is basically the same as the HDI in the Partner/Berlingo so they're very robust.

Plus your 6-speed 'box would suggest yours has the higher output. Well worth it because the 5-speed ones are painfully slow!

Yeah it’s the 115bhp model and feels really nippy. Surprised me, it feels faster than the Evoque 😂

Must admit having the high spec makes all the difference, I didn’t expect dual zone digital climate control, cruise, heated seat etc from a van.

Sign of the times , the parcel jockies union demand these creature 'comforts' nowadays! 🤣

CarPlay thing added. Third one of these we’ve bought now, fantastic for £30 odd.

They are pretty good if you have an aux in plug nearby, I fitted one in my daughters 1 series.
