Cars of Crackers: -aborted- Accidental midweek shite collection

Whew, it's been a few months.

The Saab has been putting in a fantastic shift this year. Touch wood, all it's wanted this year has been a ball joint and regular servicing.

With that said, it's moving on to a new owner imminently, and I'm going to miss it. I don't get emotional about cars, but this old tub has carried me around the country through some of the best road trips and worst personal times I've ever had. It genuinely feels like an old friend, a comfy pair of slippers.

So I felt a little pang of sadness parking it up tonight before its last couple of days with me. Its replacement, whilst really lovely, is going to have tough competition to beat the memories I've got with the Saab.

Almost certainly, yes. Northwards just before 8am, south about 4:30pm.

It was around 8:30 on Wednesday morning, the Saab was heading toward Westhampnett (south?) If it wasn’t you, you have a doppelgänger!

Yes that could have been me, driving home from work having realised I'd forgotten half of what I needed 🤦

  • Crackers changed the title to Cars of Crackers - a hopefully boring collection of a BRAND NEW car.

Continuing my running theme of failing to buy cars locally, today's collection thread will be an all-day affair.

I will be perilously close to breaking rule 1:

1: Never, under any circumstances, buy a car from Bradford. NB: there are no exceptions.

However I think it's far enough that I'm safe.

1st leg: Legs.

Chodspeed and all that, but missing all the customary collection detail & no brekkie shot, must try harder 5/10 extra point for sparkly white trainers tho.

1 so far, but I don't eat brekkie so no further updates on that front until I get hungry.

Just caught up..... Not sure if this was ID'd but it looks like a Mantra Murena/Bagheera to me.

Murena I think......

Bradford purchase you say...... 2 cars in 1 FTMFW

Funny enough I thought about this mystery car yesterday. I'm not sure it's a Matra, the styling isn't quite right.

It'd be a bit (proportionally) wider for a Baghera? One used to park outside my digs in Bayswater 40 years ago - I used to really like th elook of it even though Top Trumps memories told me it was a bit of a mutton dressed like lamb car

I are home. I've been through every stretch of 50mph average speed checked roadworks this fine country has to offer.

On the plus side:

It's so green it's virtually planting trees behind itself!

There's two batteries in the compartment under the boot floor, the blue case key one is new iirc, that message might be because of the fetching pink key being present also 🫣

Hope you had a good journey back 👍

I'll have a look tomorrow, thanks 😀

MPG is mega impressive for a near 2-ton barge. That powertrain just works soooooo well for effortless progress.

Journey home was good thanks!

Just needs a plate like CRA73R or something equally illiterate and people will definitely* see it and think you've made it.

I wish I had bollocks big enough to run a 10-15 year old luxobarge.

The Saab departed this afternoon in the hands of another shiter who I'm sure will make himself known in due course.

I'm very sad to see it go. If I could keep it forever, I would have done!

In response I took the Jaaaaag out and gave it a fairly spirited lap of my local test route. I'm impressed... A 2 ton diesel supertanker has no right to shift like that when you really open the taps 😳
