Open Office definitely saves messing.

Cheers gents, you're the bomb.

After blatantly scoping the place out with their Transit slow drive bys, pikeys have had some of our work neighbours castings away and tured over another garage elsewhere on the estate.

I have a horrid feeling I'll go into work to find the place a mess and my toolbox missing...

Correction, fiatdaft, that sign should be two US helicopters crashing into eachother after killing a load of women and children and some British soldiers.

People slag off America all the time, but I wish I lived in a country where you could have pancakes for breakfast.

No MacDonalds near you?

That's the main reason I'm going. Also the reason I'm having all my trousers taken out a bit before I leave.

I also remember watching this.

I think he was trying to work out how to use his (legal) dash mounted hands free phone.

If it was the one on the M3 near Basingstoke I remember it well.....the girl killed was a friend of a workmate. The lorry driver in question had not looked at the road ahead for some considerable distance and ploughed into the back of traffic queuing to leave the motorway. The police did not even realise her car was there initially it had been crushed so much.

There was even a passenger in the truck as well IIRC.

I'm grumpy cos i have just got my credit card bill, and there is a spurious transaction on there for £10k, supposedly I have bought 'BRAND NEW LAND ROVER D701SWL', WTF! Bloody fraudsters :x

I'm grumpy today. I have cleaned the audi, and it still looks frigging dirty (steamed the engine off though, that looks OK) The exhaust centre refused to work on its blowing exhaust as its stainless and the airfilter I was hoping to get yesterday and fit today still hans't arrived GR8. Also a bit fed up of being dragged round places by the wife on my day off and so being unable to work on shite. "why do you need to work on cars when you have your family to be around, don't we make you happy?" .

Hey Mr B, That landy will be great for A framing, we could use it tomorrow!

Posted

Oh yeah, car insurance, £290 third party insurance for a wanky old Maestro? FUCK OFF!! It was £150 on the Audi!

I've just had to sit and grit my teeth while the financial controller of the bo11ox household gave me a long, uncomfortable and patronising lecture about being incapable of managing my money, all sparked off just cos I asked for £280 out the joint account to buy this Avenger. :x

I am grumpy with not having big enough balls to buy that MG ZS off the bay

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 0772523666

I wussed out at £765.

Even if I only got a couple of months before HGF meltdown and flogging it "spairs repares" for a monkey I would alright with, as less than 800 for a zippy twink'd 'warm hatch' with sensible miles and 8 years old is mega value.

I am such a mong.

winning bidder only has 1 feedback so i think you could be getting a 2nd chance offer :D

GAH! Spent another day doing no car work. Why is it so difficult to get in the garage? Loads to do but have just sat there getting fatter watching shit on Dave.

I reckon its because of all the times I went and did work on the Imp and found something horrid. Now I am annoyed about wasting another day of my life doing shag all.

Does anyone else suffer from this problem?

Posted

yes

today i spent coughing up phlem, and avoiding going out in the snow

Posted

Yep, me too pretty much.

My cars are all stored too far away from where I live, the nearest is about 12 miles away, the 2 other cars are stored 40 and 45 miles away respectively in other towns where I'm renting storage. Mutha_Sterling is now in command of the Micra so I'm a pedestrian again.

I try and keep myself busy though.

Not at all. I've been unemployed since september and I think I'm just getting into the swing of 'doing nothing' everyday now. It's great!

Why did you get a joint account? I've always wondered why couples get them, just sounds like an argument waiting to happen. Just have one of you withdraw their half of the rent and give it to the other who sends a cheque off, then you can get to buying crumbly old motors/stupid shoes respectively. No worries!

Joint accounts are just something I wouldn't be prepared to do, though the chances of me ever being asked to open one are thinning at about the same rate as my hair. Good.

Posted

Joint accounts are GR9, you both have your own accounts, into which your respective wages get paid- but have a direct debit every month into the joint, from which all household bills/mortgage fuel bills e.t.c get paid. The money left in your own account is yours, to do with what you wish. Simple!

There was talk recently of both of our wages being paid into the joint and a set allowance being paid into our own accounts every month, but I didn't like the sound of it and put the stoppers on the idea instantly.

But i want to work on the cars, i really do i am just scared of encountering grimness. Am about to embark on a weldathon on the Gt6 and am so worried it will turn into the marathon that the Imp was again rot wise. I just cant bring myself to start. Need to as i need to sell the Gt6 to pay off a lot of debt after buying a house.

I just need to man up i reckon. Will smoke some woodbines and get on with it.

This: It won't get any better while it sits there. Assume it will turn into a weldathon and then you'll feel better when you find areas that are better than you thought hey might be. Don't strip everything apart in one go and make a start on a bit you can complete and stand back to admire in a fairly short space of time. Onwards and upwards etc.

Yeah, i know all cars are not that bad, but the Imp really was.

For instance, some structural points were made of fibreglass

Did not find one good bit on the Imp. Some of the floor had been held on with Waxoyl to look like it had been welded.

GT6 is pretty okayish. Done 1 sill after the previous owner had welded OVER the rot rather than replace it. Done half of the other but probably need to cut it out and do all of it.

For the new people on here, I noticed the sills on the GT6 were fucked after i crashed it and they cracked. Metal does not crack.

After a day full of housework and other tasks I decided to go to work at 5 this afternoon. There is a huge backlog of work, I needed to get several cars shuffled around and the xr4x4 onto the ramp to strip the underside, and onto the truck ready for weighing in. My yard is long and thin, so 5 cars and a truck have to come out to use the ramp, so jobs like this are best done when everyone else is shut and the lane is quiet.

Mostly, it went well, but when I came to pack away again I found that 2 cars wouldn't start (Volvo 240, Red Sierra) so I spent an hour messing on with batteries and jump leads before giving up and pushing the sierra in with the truck and then towing the volvo (with the truck again). Total PITA to do on your own, by the way.

Bah. cars.

Except, there's never anything left! In fact, it's usually well into the red.
