I think Hirst id typing with his tongue in his cheek. After all, he runs a reputable taxi business.....

Firstly my avatar says all I need to say about Englands chances but fear not, I have a S.N.P (Scotland not playing) avatar lined up and ready to go.

Secondly. I really think I will have to quit drinking if the new lower limit comes in. I don't mean having a pint and driving home because I wont but having a few the night before. Due to the somewhat strange hours I have to work I was pulled last xmas at 5am and blew a "negative but with a small trace" reading. Whether or not that would have me banned and shamed when the new limit comes into effect is a chance I'm not willing to take.

Posted

Yep, still being over the limit the next day is something that could have caught me out a few times over the years.

Posted

What is the point of lowering the limit? You'd seriously have to be a newborn gerbil to have that amount affect you. Why don't they just ban EVERYTHING and get it over with.

I'm concerned about all the hand-wringing with the alcohol limits too, hoping they'll realise it is a waste of time, fiddling for the sake of it. I imagine they probably will, I think the only reason it has been raised is so the government can say "no, we won't fall into line with Europe, we're a tough new government" etc.

The current one is balanced about right in my eyes. Sometimes I fancy a few whiskies before I go to bed, or I might walk to the pub on my lunch break for a quick pint, then drive home later that day. Both cases mean I'll still have some alcohol in my blood, but it doesn't mean I have become completely incapable of driving. The current limit should reflect this, I imagine there won't have been too many occasions where I've been behind the wheel whilst being over the limit.

The BBC News Have your Say thing was full of morons going "It should be ZERO!" because presumably they never drink shandy or use mouthwash. And take about half a week off driving after a night out.

Christ, if you worry about your life that much, you might as well be dead.

Because if you get banned the government make more money in insurance purchase tax for 10 years.

Excuse my ignorance, but what is insurance purchase tax?

The states cut of every insurance policy sold.

football was a big load of wank tonight. We have no bloody chance, do we care?

And no, would be the reply.

I don't think we deserve it really. We have some excellent players but the problem is their laziness and bad attitudes. Kind of representative of the country as a whole.

i was hoping england would lose last night, but a no score draw is close enough -football is an very odd pastime i have never been part of

all those flags hanging out of windows and attached to cars are starting to piss me off too

where can i buy a 6ft Pakistan flag ?

I'm sick of football and this country's patriotism towards itself when it comes to stopping foreigners coming in and football (but nothing else) - it's not like we're in a war. It's a shame we have such an uninspiring, hopeless side, but I'd only laugh if the England side didn't score a single goal, which looks like it's going to happen.

These people make more money from sponsorship deals, that says a lot about their agendas.

LOLZ

Not the biggest football fan, but do try to support UK teams where they are playing. Last night was a disgrace.

What happens if USA v Algeria draw 0-0 and England v Slovenia draw 2-2?

I'm not sure I fully understand the points system, but wouldn't that put England and USA equal in places 2 and 3? Who goes through?

I know the common answer will be "don't care", but just out of interest like...

Saw a 'mother' duck leading a load of ducklings today! Awww.

Except it was on the hard shoulder on the M53. Hope they weren't making an attempt to cross!

I think we do tbh. We have a squad who can't be arsed and to be frank I think it's down to the manager as they don't want to play for him obviously.

Don't get me wrong I'm as patriotic as they come when our national side is playing, but they were fucking disgraceful last night and )in the unlikely event they get past the group stages) they'll get absolutely twatted by anyone even remotely decent.

sitting at junction waiting to turn onto a busy main road. when along comes a scraggily drained looking alcoholic in one of those invalidity buggy things adorned with 2 england car flags..can of cheap lager in hand, fag hanging out of his mouth..shouting at me to move out of the way so he can cross from one pavement to the other.. ignored the prat until he starts kicking car door  .. i got out and ask him if his f@cking legs work so well why dont he just cross the road?... and if he wants to continue kicking my car i will break his fucking legs for him to get the benefit out of his buggy.. he got up and said you wait there and runs off down the street

Main dealers.

'Our' new to us family wagon went in for a simple service (first car I've stuck into a dealer for service  ) and shortly after dropping the car off had the snooty mare on the service desk on the phone warning us of further work.... £1100 worth of 'recommended' work.

Diesel pump noisey and 'going to fail' WTF!!!

Exhaust needing adjusted. (?)

O/S/F drop link and wishbone bush. Replace in pair, suspension geometry check, front & rear axle alignment. For replacing a bush..? A bush they want £94 for. Priced a full set of Polybushes for the front of the car for £55, droplinks £14 each not £29 like they are asking.

Front number plate adrift. True, like I want you to fix it though, just do what yer told, reset the service light and stamp the fucking book...

I've found the service CD for the car on ebay, and the dealers stamp is just simple block text easily reproduced 8) by rubberstampz.co.uk.... Fuck knows why I gave them it in the first place. :?

Shit fuck bastard. Ahh... thats better!

Is it a Ford? To make the spanner light go out on a Ford you floor the brake and accelerator pedals, turn the ignition on and hold the pedals until the spanner starts to flash.

Nah, its the wankers weapon of choice until they were all given Audis by their fleet managers...

Cycling today in the fine weather and on returning from taking my pix of spottings I find myself running out of space between the traffic and the kerb.

Dunb young mum in new KA is drifting over the lane - texting at the wheel, while brat in chair in the back sits unknowingly.

Texting! and to cap it all, she has one of these 'baby on board' type window signs. IRONY

Sure, it was slow moving traffic (<25mph) but still.

When will this stop? I see this all the faggin time - always wimmin too.

i did read that there is a website where if you see someone texting at the wheel you take reg number and they post them a letter warning of police action if their number appears more than once.. dunno how that would work though if someone has a grudge against you

They'd get some dogshit through their postbox. This has worked for me as a counter revenge tactic in the past.
