And TV wise everything seems to be working now with the exception of Yesterday and London Live.

Neither of those show Bergerac so I'm leaving it as is.

Have you tried using Daz?

Bub's highly competent in many ways but I'm not sure video connectivity is his thang.

Ah... ISWYM...

A fairly innocent conversation at work last week about one of the girls in the office having problems with Child Tax Credits quickly degenerated into the majority of staff going off on a massive racist rant...

Two days later and I'm still left with a bad taste in my mouth over it all. I really enjoy the job, but I don't want to be surrounded by people like that.

poor old marvin.....

after covering 160 miles ast weekend for drive it day, marvin has been turfed out of the nice dry lockup and is back under a cover on the FiL' drive.

the orange mini has now takenup residence in that lockup, and the black turd has been dumped in the other lockup, at least until i can be bothered with it/sell it/burn it with fire.

marvin will be wondering what he's done wrong.

We had company wide training about a month ago because of a number of incidents, which obviously included diversity type stuff etc. They should know better, but you can't change peoples views in a day, only ask them to keep quiet about them.

In some ways, you could say it works, because it makes racism more diverse. Particularly when expressed by immigrants themselves.....

Really the answer is a proper external aerial, correctly aimed at the right transmitter by a pro. That way I might be able to drop BT and Sky as 90% of my viewing is Freeview channels anyway. Provided 4od can be picked up on my TV I will probably manage fine without BT

Why don't you get a freesat box

Basic one is £50  but you can get them with recorders, wifi etc. 100 times more reliable than freeview.

You should ask what he means by Snowflake, see if he can accurately define the meaning of the word. Most folk don't.

Perhaps scare the shit out of him by claiming it's a highly homophobic thing to say and he should apologise and refrain from using it before someone mentions it to HR.

That is not a bad shout, I will have a look into that

You come over here and say that to our face! (give me a shout when you land at Heathrow and I'll come pick you up...)

When you do, please can you bring me a slab or 2 of VB and a Big Ben meat pie?

I got into trouble in diversity training for daring to ask why everyone can't be treated the same so they're all equal. I might as well have shit on the floor.

It was funny as they started saying stuff that's been proven to be wrong (like definitions of stuff like "rule of thumb") and how you shouldn't let children read Noddy books. I asked why as I'd never seen one and again they lost it a bit.

What's wrong with the rule of just don't be a twat?

It could be. It's a brand new cable which is a metre too short so I extended it for the final section.

I have had my doubts about the aerial socket on the wall so just cleaned up the coaxial and fitted the new socket, see if that makes any difference. The retuning seems to be taking longer.....

BUGGER ME - I had 76 channels before, the aerial adjustment slashed that to 31, but with the new aerial socket I have 95! Let's see if they work.

Have lost London Live but that was mostly crap anyway....

EDIT - none of the channels work. What's going on here? Zero signal strength on everything

Extending coax cable is a fairly hit-or-miss activity as telly signals are a bit sensitive to joints etc, if you can stomach the expense and effort running an entirely new cable is the way ahead.

As long as the joint is done properly and the signal is strong enough to begin with it shouldn't cause a problem.

Im strange bloke me. I don't see any difference? So a bloke from a different country walks talks and shite the same as me but he's different because his skin is darker???? I'm not having that! My mate prefers men to whomen that makes him different????

Is it just me or What?

Or is this another thing so you can stand out? Like dressing in a bright orange suit at a funeral when everyone else is in black?

Updating training records at work.

If I wanted to sit at a desk, bored, scribbling on paper I would never have left school.

Although, school didn't have WiFi..

Was there WiFi in the 90s?

Blatantly minted dubbers pleading poverty on eBay.

Yeah, you're clearly on your uppers having spent £275 on a NOS Hella Heckenblade. Spare me.

Reception has always been dicey in the lounge. New cables, joints and sockets and a proper digital aerial should mean a decent picture. I think there is damage somewhere along the cable but I am not pulling the house apart to find it.

Might get a proper external aerial up at some point, they aren't expensive

Discovered B&Q were doing paint tester pots for a Penny.  Cue Lady Grumpius digging through the bin for ten minutes (with me, in fairness) to get as many of the blues as possible so we can possibly paint our new bathroom for literally pennies.  Think we actually have enough to do it.  Make a joke with the bloke on the till, all good.  This is about 5 hours into us being out and my blood tea levels getting low.

In the car on the way home.  Can we go to the other B&Q on the way home and have a look, too?  Mind you, this is a half-hour detour (it's not actually on the way home) and she doesn't really have a concept of time or distance.  She once thought it was reasonable to go from Kent to Manchester via Gloucester because it would only take another three-quarters of an hour or so.  I did know better but went along with it anyway.

FFS...

Of course.  They're a fucking Quid there.  Nope.  But it took us ten minutes to find them and not buy them.

I have since expressed my frustration at that particular request.

If you still have your dish and feeds in lounge just get freesat.

Yes, just. 802.11b was standardized in 1999, but I believe there was kit out before then.

"Well if you were a bloody p**i and walked into the job center they'll just throw money at you" etc etc.

Of the 10-15 people present, Only me and one of the apprentices was really opposed to this garbage, with the flipping workshop supervisor calling him a "bloody snowflake" for piping up. I'm quite a senior member of staff so I do my best to keep people in line, like a lot of places, there's a couple of casual "Daily Mail" quoting racists there who I've often got to have a dig at, but I didn't realise how many people were on board with the same rubbish, it runs right to the flipping top.

Two days later and I'm still left with a bad taste in my mouth over it all. I really enjoy the job, but I don't want to be surrounded by people like that.

That's just pack mentality, it's what the not so bright revert to rather than think for themselves. In reality this country has probably the most tolerant and accepting population in the world.

Unless you're Irish obs.

Fucking eBay curse strikes once more.

I try to sell something valuable and, of course, it's worthless as a result.

Like the fucking IPD rocker cover all over again.
