Cheers. I'm feeling a bit better about it this evening. A best mate is a medical doctor and I was having a good chat with him earlier. Good to bounce thoughts and ideas off someone with a medical mind.

Even though it's a major problem, it's not a game over one like early menopause, me being infertile and the like is. So there is still hope. Whatever is causing it may go away. As my mate said, realistically as long as nothing major changes, we've got at least another 10 to 15 years of trying.

Even though we were preparing for the worst, it still a shock when you get one of the top consultants in the area telling you there is nothing more he can do. Worked from home today too and went for a walk, etc earlier which has helped clear my mind.

As long as you can practice and practice hopefully one day, just keep practicing :-D

I had to be tested, just to make sure I worked.

I had been on night shift finishing Thursday morning.I had to be at the hospital in Durham at 09.00.Keeping a sample warm through rush hour traffic and it had to be the pretty young blond that took the sample.

Ha, I did mine through the NHS and produced the sample on site. Getting a sample across Bristol in less than 20 minutes would have been tight. For those wondering, the NHS provided material was a Lesbian DVD that came free off a magazine...

When I gave the results printout to our consultant, he congratulated me on producing a strong sample. Much to my wife annoyance!

Just watch those young gymnasts giving their victim statements on the news. 195 years is not enough for that fuckin cunt. Each family should get a slot to beat the shit out of him, then let him recover a bit and do it again!

Look on the bright side, if it was over here he'd get 195 hours community service like that taxi rapist.

Written by a middle aged person who thinks he knows how kids talk perhaps.

Makes me think of Geoff from Byker Grove.

Best I could come up with was:

One was taking some French leave from preparatory school on Monday afternoon along with my compatriots.

Whilst perusing the range of practical clothing at the local mercantile establishment I chanced upon a rather lovely cardigan.

Being slightly lacking in funds I extorted with menaces the money that a close friend had borrowed for an unknown reason from me along with 50% interest.

As a jolly jape we removed the cardigan from the shop without paying for it.

However on later reflection I felt it perhaps did not suit me quite as well I thought and some slacks or a smoking jacket may be more befitting to one of my breeding.

Sadly it's real, I had to resort to social media to check some of the terms.

I did wonder when it said he had done him wether this was a sexual reference or he had knifed him....

I can put it much more succinctly (although I particularly enjoyed your turn of phrase, D.R.)

"I call a man's shirt a top.  I am not worthy of being listened to any further"

Similar here, wouldn't have made home to hospital along the A13 in a half hour during rush hour so I had to park up in the carpark and smash one out in the back of the van (Peugeot boxer, fully racked out, don't know why this is relevant). Passed with flying colours. My missis at the time had PCOS too, took us about a year and a half and just as we gave up ( got bored of trying) it happened... Weird really. She went on to have another one 9 years later.

I've got an email from Aidy Flux:

This is in regards to the policy I cancelled two weeks ago when I sold my T25. It was a £350 policy, paid in full when I took it out and had about 6 months remaining.

I emailed them to cancel it, and got a reply with a £125 figure in. Scanned it as I was busy, expecting it was a refund. Turns out they were demanding £125 after cancelling the policy for some reason.

Further to this, had them on the blower today. I didn't go wild at them because I've got bigger fish to fry at the minute and I was at work and supposed to be working.

Apparently this policy was on DD (I thought it was paid up and the DD was for the other van) but after the refund and them retaining commission plus a £35 admin fee to cancel, somehow I was £125 upside down on the deal. A load of shit really but I would have taken it begrudgingly on the chin.

Instead of informing me that I now owed them money, I got an email with a blank PDF attached.

Shortly after, they tried to take payment from my expired credit card and it failed, so instead of:

  • Calling me on the number they have on file
  • Sending me a letter to my home address
  • Sending me another email
  • Using one of the other (valid) cards and bank account details they have to make payment

They waited a few days then sent the "debt" to a "debt recovery" team??

They agreed to halve the £35 debt recovery fee, but then asked if they could take the £140 payment from the other Visa card they already have on file.

So that's that. Adrian flux can absolutely fuck right off, I'm never going to do business with them again, for the sake of £17.50 and a "Sorry about that"

I told them to make sure my other two policies don't auto-renew and that I'd cancel them both immediately but I don't want to end up bankrupted by bullshit admin fees.

I can remember when car insurance companies didn't used to be dicks. There was a time. Now because it's so competitive thanks to the comparison sites they're looking for every opportunity to screw you on the back end.

I'd be tempted to take it up with the ombudsman.

I've not got the time or inclination at the moment, I'm trying to buy a house alongside finishing off renovating the one we're living in and stuff - My spare time can be used more productively!

It's £17 that I won't really miss, I'll just use a different insurance company from now on. It might cost me a bit more, but if I went to the ombudsman and got my £17 back, I'd still never use them again.

I bet I've spent about ten grand on policies with them over the years. I've even stuck up for them on forums when people say they were shit!

Although laudable, but this would be a fart in the universe.

In terms of infrastructure, the UK has fallen behind to such an extent, that catching up is realistically no longer possible.

Placebo moneywastes like HS2 and smart dumb motorways only emphasise the real problem.

The question begs where all the tax money went the past 50 years?

Hasn't it been spent on tax cuts for both corporations and individuals? France has good infrastructure but it also has eye watering tax rates. Take your pick.

I'll take the infrastructure please.

Tax isn't as high as all that in France - and conversely, I've never seen a tax cut in times of austerity so we're not getting a benefit either way.

Real wages in France are rising while ours are falling - because they're investing in their economy.

Yep, me too but it seems that the British electorate doesn't agree with us.

Tax isn't that bad for low to medium earners here. My total contribution is around 24%.

It's the high earners and employers that get clobbered.

No way can I afford to legally employ an assistant due to the stupidly high tax levied on employers. (it's not really tax it's social contribution, bit like NI)

Of course I've never* paid any assistance with cash..

Fugget, found this in my tire this morning. Took it to the local tire place and they can't repair it cos the hole is too big, the tread is at the wear indicators and there's also a razor blade in the side wall. New tire is $190. Grrr

Lol at being a bit grumpy today.

As you may have seen for some random reason (OK rust) the Fiesta decided not to start in town. This is obviously karma for shouting at a cyclist that was wobbling in the middle of the lane making everyone go slow and then decided to go through 2 red lights. I'm sure he enjoyed it when I shouted he was a twat.

The wardrobe door also finally fell off. As I couldn't fix the hinge as it uses tiny screws that only just bite. It's proper heavy. God only knows how I'm going to fix it.

So with the £20 charge, that I didn't know about, for a recovery I didn't need and £15 worth of petrol that's all of today's wage, only 3 hours, all gone already.

Oh well it's nothing major :-)

Just speaking to my parents they told me that someone who occasionally coached me tennis when I was young has died. He was 51- just 6years older than me, and dropped dead at the tennis centre during a game. Hardening of the arteries apparently. 6 foot 2 and very active and no family history as his parents are still alive.

Also mark Hilton who is the coach of the next British tennis hope, Kyle Edmund, used to play in our back garden. We used to baby sit him! Makes me feel old!

I'm with the mods. People WERE being silly with the thread, pushing the boundaries after countless warnings not to. Now the thread has gone and those of us who were able to enjoy it at face value can't.

It wasn't the faces I enjoyed :-)

The mods do a thankless task for no reward and do a bloody good job of it.

Lorry drivers listen up... Getting up my arse to push me along isn't going to make me go faster for you because guess what??? There's a car in front of me, and one in front of that and one in front of that, maybe even another lorry, etc... It must be hard to see that from up there. It really shows your level of intelligence. I have a family and wish to see them tonight so fuck right off.

I'm a bloody genius.

Mrs_Pillock asked me to pick up an H7 bulb as the dipped beam on her VAG had gone.

Went out, popped the dust cover off, took the bulb out, replaced, put it back together, tested it, WTF it's still blown?

Examine old bulb, it's fine.

Realise the Touran has two H7s - dipped and main. Guess which one I replaced? The easiest one to get to, the wrong one. The dipped is buried in the wing past several holes a few mm smaller than my hand.

So I then had to put that bulb into the dipped spot, but of course I got my grubby fingers all over the glass so of course it blew the very next day. Of course it did.

At which point I realised I could have swapped them both over and put the clean bulb there, and the dirty bulb in the "only gets used a couple of seconds a day" spot.

I did mine, over 10 years ago, on my own (with some help from The Hun) at lunchtime and had about 30 minutes from then to get it 10 miles or so to Harrogate hospital, where upon I handed it to a Mr Husband...!
