Left freezer unplugged for a few days. All food ruined. Only noticed when fish fingers (the expensive cod ones) appeared to be a bit flexible.

Have been stepping over the plug in order to put things in the freezer during that time.

The Polo that "ran fine" that my sister left me to sell after she pissed off to Aus doesn't fucking start AT ALL if you leave it more than a day, she "forgot" to tell me it was that bad. Strongest battery of anything thought, it turned over for absolutely ages without hinting of going flat.

In the end I got it going by unplugging temp sender (they flood themselves when the sender is shit) and turning it over for ages again. Took it round the block to clear it's throat and it banged out at the top of the hill. Definitely needs ignition components, luckily most of them are interchangeable to my T25 (leads, cap, rotor arm, coil) so I will throw parts at it til it's OK, probably. If I can be bothered.

I was told it "drove fine" and assumed it probably did seeing as they were all over the country in it all the time. Seems not, glad I've had no takers on it and wasted peoples time with a test "drive"!

I have to use Firefox at work...

I feel dirty enough having had to install Office 365 on my new hard drive but I got it for free so needs must.  :-)

What the fuck is that about then? Time was you installed Office and that was that, now they want to stiff you £70 every year for it.

In other news:

Ouch. Ripped a hole in my hand with one of the gates at work. Lucilly because I was at work I lobbed a dental collagen pack on it to halt the torrent of blood.

Sell it to 'cartakeback' for her

They are all jumping aboard that ship, no discs supplied just a scrap of card with a serial number, so no internet, no software.  No installing Photoshop in 3 years time on a new system using your old discs and serial number etc.

I got the Office for free so have a year without paying anything and will look for a copy of 2010 or something with discs etc.

Continuous licensing - license to rob people blind more like.

MTK 2.5 for MS

modded amtlib.dll for Adobe shizz.

I have already tried to swap it for that 80s passat TD on RR, Cartakeback is looming but there's 4 months tax (that's registered at an address they don't live at anymore so no cashing in without some hassle) and it's insured as well, so I'll probably just leave it at the bottom of the drive as a backup backup commuter for a few months. It's not a bad motor overall though, if it wasn't fuppin purple I would probably run it myself.

Im alright now I have managed to find and download a copy of Office Pro-plus as I have a legit serial for that.

Yes, injuries make me queasy. Hope it doesn't cane too badly.

On the whole Internet browser debate, I use Chrome on my new machine. I had an endless amount of mither with it on my old Dell because it got infected with CouponDropDown. Firefox crashed continually and wouldn't let me patch it, and IE was IE. IE is better than it was but it's still unpleasant. There's one intranet page at work that will only display in IE for some reason, and it's the shift rota. NICE ONE GUYS.

Speaking of Internet Explorer nonsense, here's what happens when you try to view an owner's manual on LG's website:

Same error in Firefox. You could get away with stupid shit like this ten years ago when IE had over 90% market share, but not now.

IE 11 has stopped playing ball with this forum for me too. I last posted a pic on Dec 4th but it's not having it now. Tried on 2 different computers at home and at work but still no luck. Changing the browser mode to an earlier version gives a snowStorm is not defined error.

Shame as I was trying to post a link to a 1980 Mercedes-Benz 300SD Turbo Diesel that the owner WILL TRADE FOR GOLD

It bemuses me that anyone outside of a business would actually pay for any kind of software any more (and I'm not talking about crack copies either).

What iOS and baseband is it on? And what model is it?

Baseband is listed as "Modem Firmware" in Settings>General>About. It's near the very bottom.

iOS 7, baseband 5.0.02, iPhone 4S.

You can download the untethered jailbreak for iOS 7 here (dead easy to use)

However, it looks as if the Cydia app "Ultrasn0w" doesn't support that baseband yet. Shame.

Indeed. I meddle with photos using Gimp, and my officey doings are all done using OpenOffice. All for free.

If you're running windows, just get Microsoft Security Essentials.

Haven't posted in a long while, but have lots of car related grumpiness.

My Golf seems to fail to proceed on an almost weekly basis at the moment, always with a completely different malady, today, after replacing the rubber grommet in the accelerator which had caused the last failure, I went to get a baked potato for lunch.

When leaving the car park with said baked potato, it cut out and wouldn't start rolling to a jaunty stop in the exit of a Holiday Inn on double yellows - couldn't see anything wrong, but it wouldn't fire, called a friend for a tow to somewhere better, eat my potato, gave it one last time and it fired up fine.  To passers by it looks like I parked poorly with my hazards on, eat a potato and drove off.

Annoyingly of the other 2 cars currently on the road, the Citroen isn't insured for commuting plus leaks like a sieve and the SAAB has decided that it doesn't like 4th gear intermittently and so is off to Worcester for a week to get looked at by a specialist (hope it lets me have 4th for at least some of the journey!).

The one modern car we have purchased evenly between us suddenly becomes 0% mine when the older cars have issues / bills.

Forgot how crazy eBay is for Tamiya stuff.

Put my smashed to f0rk Vanessa's Lunchbox on there and within two minutes had 33 watchers and someone wanting to know if I 'had a price in mind'.

Translation : I want to give you a tenner but I don't have the nads to ask and will be offended by whatever price you come up with and complain that it's knackered even though all the faults are listed.

I'm using Avast, but you learn pretty quickly to find a way to shut up the annoying "virus database updated" woman.

Jimcit - Saab eh? Wouldn't be a hideous green one would it?

I have an original 1980 Sand Scorcher in the attic, properly built by a proper old-skool engineer (the Owd Giffer) then properly prepared for storage 29 years ago by the same fine fellow.

I wonder...

If we're talking about computer shizz, I've decided I'm going to get a raspberry pi and bung RISC OS on it to use for internet and work.

It's like £30 for the new model and everywhere I go to work has monitors and keyboards I can plug it into.

Also RISC OS is brilliant.

Apple and Microsoft can kiss my monkey ass. I'm really pleased some British developers came up with this. Acorn could've been the world standard if they'd had the advertising power of Microsoft or Apple.

If you want mini computers then there are much more powerful android o/s based ones than raspberry pi.

I bought one with a dual core processor, quad core gfx, 1gb ram, 4gb flash, wifi, hdmi etc for £25, running android 4.1. If you don't like android then you can stick some linux type o/s on it.

You would be besieged with people wanting you to end the auction early and wanting to ring you at 11 pm about postal charges. Then again, you're a more patient man than I..........

The council have shut part of the road through town for four weeks for no good reason that I can see. The diversions are totally unsuitable for the volume of traffic and for large vehicles, the westbound diversion takes you through a sheltered housing complex. The eastbound diversion is not suitable for large vehicles http://www.thecourier.co.uk/news/local/fife/cupar-roadworks-create-an-immobile-home-1.174700

This was day three, only 25 days to go. At least it's not peak time for delivering caravans or anything.

It would as a matter of fact... It managed a couple of months as a daily, but the gearbox has meant it's been laid up until I have enough money again.

Less of the hideous, it's gorgeous!
