Condensation from short journeys?

I'm with Cavette on this one NC, my 944 did get a bit of condensation from time time. Each time I saw it I did instantly shit myself though.

Yo tetley, at the end of the day money talks, If you think its only worth £200 just send him a polite message offering him £200 ono, as long as you dont sound like an arse hole (OI M8 ITS ONLY WURTH £75, HOW ABOUT I GIVE YOU £100 COLECT 2NITE LOL) then when all his other options bar the scrap yard have dried up he's quite likley to sell it to you for scrap money plus a little bit. The 'little bit' is worth having if you are going to do a hassle free deal with him.

Clearly if he thinks he can get £500 then he aint gonna sell to you but when it dawns on him that £500 is actually not realistic and he recalibrates his expectations, you might be in with a chance.

I'd agree if the mayo was in the cam cover/dipstck tube/engine............but says in the oil so would suggest oil cooler (if fitted) if not gasket failure (OMG etc...)

If it's not overheating, the HG hasn't gone.

However, when it starts overheating, the HG has probably gone.

My Skoda always had goo in the cap, and tonnes of smoke out of the exhaust, but it never overheated and as far as I know, the HG was fine.

I'm always paranoid about steam from the exhaust when it turns autumn, as you don't get it in summer.

I KNOW its a rattly old A series that should not be compared BUT my Moggie does the mayo trick round about now (it did it all last summer but not this one).   Short journeys deffo.   Give it a blatt about 20 miles (I only commute 5 miles) and it goes away.   Not saying its not knackered but it has no other HG symptoms and sure as hell wouldnt be doing 70 most days if it was HG related.   None of my other old pushrod shit does this mayonnaising thing and its been like it for 9 years.

It's sometimes amazing what results you can get just by being polite to people. I often tell sellers that I think their price is very fair, and that the item could even be worth more, but all I have is X amount and I'd happily pay that for it. Doesn't always go to plan of course but if you remain polite and wish them all the best anyhow there's a chance they might get back to you at some point.

I tried this today - I politely said I was interested but I had x pounds to spend (£500 less) and the guy said to come on down for a look so I am hopefully off "darn sarf" Saturday morning with a pocket full of cash.

Non of this: "Hi m8,you got a ruff price your looking at for ya van, would you take £2,000 could come and have a look tomorrow!!"  - that was £700 less than my advertised price and a day after I'd agreed to sell it so he got nothing.

Any union types on here?

I'm sick of work's antics.

I've got a brazier and a donkey jacket you can borrow Brother Wat.

And I know how to talk bollocks, give broken promises and not stand up for the people who are paying me to do my job of supporting them.

Definitely the header tank (which was nice and clean when I bought it). Porbably need a compression test to know for sure, but very tempted just to cut my losses and just add it to the "seemed like a good idea at the time" list of cars I've owned

Work are cunts. Our holiday policy has always been that you can carry over as much holiday as you want as hey its your holiday. Just dont take it when you are needed next year.

Now they have said in September of a Jan-Dec holiday year that I need to take all my holiday as I can't carry any over anymore. Its not like I have a lot to take but ut would have been nice if I could have taken it in the summer rather than you telling me this as soon as the sun has gone away.

Does selling anything with 4 wheels attract timewasters?

Advertised a mobility scooter on gumtree, within 5 minutes of me posting the ad someone rang, asked various questions (the answers to which were in the ad anyway) and said they would ring back the next evening to arrange to come and have a look. did they ring back? Did they bollocks.

Last night someone rang, on behalf of someone else, rang back again when they had contacted this other person and said they would come round tonight. Got a text this morning say could their son come round after lunch to look at it... er no because believe it or not I'm at work.

Got another text this afternoon saying they can't make it tonight and don't know when they can get to see it.

Anyone know if there's a such a thing as mobility scooter banger racing?

P.S. Anyone want a cheap mobility scooter?

Is why. I live in one of the worse areas of Leeds and when I see a mobility scooter in the distance I play 'Disabled or lazy'.

Round my way, its normally lazy.

You have not got a product that generally appeals to a high class of person. You may well be lucky to get a genuine person who needs one but no matter where you are there will be a million of these goons wanting this to take their dogs for a walk to the off licence or bingo hall.

What is it with so many cars driving around with front fog lights on all of the time?

Very rarely they actually dazzle me, unless they're on an Evo or something, but it makes a Nissan Juke look like a fucking UFO.

Considering most(?) cars now come with automatic lights, surely you have to actively switch on the fogs?

I know on my Mondeo, the fogs will only operate if auto lights are turned off.

Plebs.

They think they are cool. Pathetic.

I am more impressed to see a car without front fogs, these days.

Surely this isn't a 'spec' thing with these people?

Pathetic indeed.

Tossers sitting on the footbrake at traffic lights, junctions etc piss me off too.

Especially at night. Even more so if the car has blinding LED tail lights along with the third brake light.

You know you are doing it. That's why the entire interior of my car is bathed in red.

Don't be so fucking ignorant and show some common courtesy, you lazy bell ends.

I never do this if I have traffic behind me. Not even in my Escort with it's piss-poor tail lights and no third brake light.

Or when I do drive an auto, I put it in park.

It's not hard.

Speaking of the Escort. It is great for having a 'light race' when some tool won't dip their lights on a dark road.

A flick of full beam as a polite request. Nope? Front fogs on - still ignored. Full beam from headlights and the two blinding spotlights, then the inconsiderate bastard is nearly off the road.

I am The Gladiator.

I think some models now have DRLs in the same position foglights would be.

They're even worse. Now they do blind the fuck out of you.

I'm on about traditional halogen jobs though. They usually seem to be the type of driver who I would imagine to not even know how to switch them on, let alone make a concious effort every time they turn the key.

I keep seeing a Focus, if the light switch is anything like the one fitted to my Mondeo, then this low-life is doing it on purpose. :D

Not unless you have weak-ass tail light bulbs and no third brake light.

Otherwise, slip that sucker into P. Or N, your call.

Whoever came up with that DRL

The idea of slipping that thing into anything but D while I'm en route completely defies the idea of having a Badermatic, so all I can do is apologise again.

Whoever came up with the idea of DRL in the first place should be executed in public.

And no, kittens will not die if you drive without DRL.

And I've got 4 brake lights on the arse end of mine.

Oops.

Incredibly, i agree with junkman, when i'm driving the mondeo (auto) i'm going to hold it on the brakes at a traffic light. Chew it!

Posted

I hold the XM on the footbrake in N as the handbrake is a pile of french cheese shite apparently, and a faff to use.

However I have nice dim brake lights, one of which is out I think (but there's 2 on either side, so not illegal)

Talking of foglights, a Corsa B passed me this morning on the M40, rear fogs blazing away so much that when he braked like a twat to then dive into the outer lane to overtake someone at 2mph faster you couldnt make out the brake lights much...

I've never actually used foglights. Apart from seeing if they work, I find they make it worse in fog, as the light bounces back from the fog, so I'm driving into a white wall. Dipped beams only and I find I can peer through it. Until some modern tosser comes with his 3000w front fucking end and turns it back into a white wall of fuck.

Since no-one else has, I'm going to agree with Mr Weigh.

At night, generally they get about 20 seconds grace before they experience my full beams in their rear view mirror in return.

I always brake pedal it at traffic lights. I never get blinded by brake lights, and have never done it on purpose to blind the person behind me.

I think giving someone full beam because of it is a bit harsh, I was told to do that in my driving lesson (using the footbrake instead of the handbrake before moving away).
