^ x1000000 She is shit as a DJ, It reminds me why i never used to listen to Radio 2.

Also Chris Tarrant (I've ranted about this before) but he's also shit, Always talking about himself, never giving guests any chance to speak and generally just being a are, mind you he does seem to play some decent music.

Further to my last post really, my road trip is a load of bollocks in a van that doesn't work. Since I'm travelling with a couple I'm basically just tagging along with no idea what I'm actually doing. Only alternative is to head off by myself which I don't want to do either. Need to find a job at the other end, the prospect of which is already filling me with dread. Always have to think about money as well, since if that runs out I have to go back to the UK. Sigh.

May God strike me down if I ever even consider buying another modern Peugeot

Mrs Cheggs 307 needed a new PAS pump...@ £400!! AND, the new pump needs to be synchronised with the electronic control unit, which can only be done ata Peugeot main stealer. What the flying fuck is that all about!!

That's called progress. Stuff doesn't rust anymore, so manufacturers have to find some way of making vehicles obsolete. Making sure hideously expensive components snuff it after about 5 years usually does the job. I refuse to buy anything younger than 10 years old purely for this very reason....................what's the point of buying a new Meganutter turbobastard tdi just because it does 4 mpg better than the old one, when all the money saved on fuel is instantly wiped out when a fairly minor component fails. I'm too lazy to do the sums, but if you reckon on £75 for a dealer re-code of some of this stuff [as well as the cost of the part] it's a total no brainer.

Fuggin plumbing!

Found the kitchen ceiling soggy this morning, and the microwave beneath it all wet. GR8!

So i went and tore the bath and floor in the bathroom to bits, freaking nora man, it's a right lash up. I'm not a plumber and i'm 100% I will do a better job, cowboy bastards, off to get some fittings then....

Obviously a rip-off by manufacturers. My computer needed a new monitor recently. I just went out and bought one, plugged it into the power supply and the big silver box (you can see what a techie I am  ) and it set itself up and worked straight away. A Peugeot (or any other makes) ECU should recognise whatever is hooked onto it, after all they're Peugoet bits in any case, so why can't it do the same as a computer which is far more complex? Perhaps the motoring press should be investigating this racket instead of hanging around factory gates trying to get a scoop picture of the latest Megabore Mk 2

Unusual for me to feel grumpy enough to post something here.

Insomnia struck last night - no sleep. Meeting at 15:00 with a bunch of people whose working hours are 09:30 till 11:00, then 15:00 to 17:30. WHAT THE F*CK CAN GET DONE WITH 90 MINUTE MORNINGS? Anyway, driver didn't turn up so I had to do Nanning outer ring road on my scooter in 35 degree heat. 22 miles = VERY sunburnt arms. Arrived late, bathed in a nice oily mixture of sweat and dust.

Wife informs me this afternoon that she has pulled the plug on the flat sale at the last minute as she doesn't like the people :evil: Massive argument. Called her a f*cking idiot and now she's all upset. So am I - when someone offers full asking price in cash, I don't care who the hell they are.

The only decent thing that's happened today is me realizing that Jenna Fischer will be to me what Felicity Kendall is for my old man.

Everything else today has had a massive cock drawn all over it.

I find a certain timeless pleasure can be had by the drawing of cocks onto stuff, like when you go to get the bottle of lemonade out the cupboard and someone has drawn a big cock and balls on the label, its sort of reassuring that some things stay the same forever. Maybe theres some way you can latch onto that to salvage something from the day.

Some years ago I did some work experience at Lancaster Castle and one of the guides showed me the grafitti in one of the old cells dating back to the 18th century. You guessed it - Cock n balls aplenty. Made me smile that....Some things never change! LOL

I just walked into the living room and found Mrs Trigger had just made a giant cock out of dog biscuits on the floor...

I was given a huge bag of "wild bird food" (it was a by-product from the manufacture of beef dripping)by a customer a while ago. I meant to use it to make a giant cock of birds but I never got around to it.

Maybe it's a message - too much time on autoshite and not enough with the missus?

I got my courtesy this evening at last, I was told that it was going to be a new shape Astra which I thought could be interesting but was quite excited when i a saw a 59 plate Black SRi pull up my drive, Imagine my disappointment then this followed behind it.

Now I'm sure many of you are wondering why I'm moaning about it as looks quite nice, Well your wrong, It's a 1.4i Club and possibly the slowest car I've ever driven, It has no pick up at all, nothing, so gutless in fact that i am now wishing i got a Corsa instead! , even being behind the dash is a boring place to be.

There's a £250 excess on it as well as a £50 refundable deposit, I much more prefer my Passat.

Car manufacturers COULD make components that are recognised automatically. They could even make their control codes available so you can DIY it instead of making them totally closed and hideously expensive, even when the car they are for is obsolete (and therefore not making them any more money) but they don't, because it's all about safety and security. Needing a main agent to code a new component is supposed to stop people stealing cars for parts, same as closed and propriatory software (apple/ms) stops nasty haxors from upsetting your computer. Yeah. Right.

Anyway, my grump for the day... 3D cinema :( Took the young un to see a film this afternoon, as a treat. I've never seen "new" 3D before and frankly it's awful. It is jarry and flickery enough to give me a migraine. It cost NINE QUID to get in and another pound for the Blues Brothers specs - I had to leave before the end of the opening credits because gouging my eyes out with a spoon would actually have hurt less. So I went and sat in a music shop for an hour and a half instead. C says the film was "ok, I suppose". He's getting a book next time.

Not suprised when these things are getting heavier all the time, dont like the inside - looks cheapo.

Sorry but I'm going to grumble about autoshite. My own autoshite. There's a pretty good chance that I'll be heading to Wales this weekend - a 400 mile round trip. Let's review the options.

1. 2CV. She's done almost 3000 miles in a month already, and is capable of producing huge clouds of acrid blue smoke. I think she needs a rest and I definitely need a break from driving her.

2. BX. Has a hydraulic leak and a ropey starter motor. Not very promising. Shame LHM is so expensive. At least it can be bump started quite easily.

3. CX. Very much needs a service, has a misfire and two really dodgy front tyres. Indicators a bit too intermittent. Slurps juice.

4. Westminster. Runs nicely, but show it a traffic jam and it'll overheat. Driving position causes agony for my knee after not too long behind the wheel.

5. Mini. Runs nicely, but pinks a lot when driven hard, which it would be. Causes agony for my entire body if driving more than 100yards.

Does anyone else sometimes wish they just owned a 'nice' car? Problem is - I've been trying for years to find one, and wonder if such a machine actually exists. Seriously - I'm even considering trying a Ford Focus for a bit (especially after a colleague got a pretty nice one for £900). I'm in a dark place...

Posted

Isn't that Astra the last shape, not the latest? I wonder how much discount they got off a fleet of those!

Demand they take it back, they said it would be a new shape :)

Posted

Yeah, Even though it's only two months odd (and already covered 4550 miles) it's still the last shape, I am a bit disappointed really, I was hoping for a Focus especially as i could have it for a few months depending on how long it takes to finalise my claim.

My other worry is the size of those big slab sided door, how easy is it to get a parking dent in one of them and end up losing my £250 excess...

Posted

Don't hope for a Focus! They're truly awful. So much bulkier than the first one. It's like driving around in a submarine, but twice as depressing as watching a documentary on slappers from Rhyl chain smoking as they produce ever more sprogs. Well done Ford - you took a good car and made it awful.

It's a 1.4i Club and possibly the slowest car I've ever driven,

Just had a quick look and its a similar weight and has similar power to an MGB Unsurprisingly the performance is also similar!

Yes, but there's probably no such thing. It's a bit like being comfortable on a long haul flight, your favourite position is the next one.

If you had 10 grand, would you buy a 10 grand car? I wouldn't, I'd drip feed it through several cars... which is what I've been doing over the last few years now I come to think of it.

And new cars break down too, you knew that didn't you?

Thanks Vodafone for saying that you would deliver my new phone today and then failing to do so. Another day of waiting about. Gits.

I wouldn't normally be so fussed but as my current one is being held together by a post-office red elastic band....

That Astra looks very similar to the 57 reg Corsa 1.4 diesel I took my test in. Same colour, very similar interior, that was so bloody slow it was unbelievable. Took ages to get any kind of acceleration out of it, definately NOT recommended. Oh and does it make that annoying "ding ding ding ding" noise whenever you open the door? I mean WTF was that about?

I was so pleased when I passed my test and settled down behind the wheel of an Austin A35 8)

Posted

You should have got a new Fiesta, I am currently driving one and its great. Really good feel to the interior, comfortable and pretty fast when you need it to be. Okay, so Ive only ever driven two cars but this is by far the better one.....

My grump is also Vodafone. Not their service or my contract, both are fine. But why have a long queue in the shop with somes staff member doing nothing but handing out tickets to people so they could wait for the ticket number to be called? Whats the point in investing in a touch screen monitor which guides them to which department they need if you just place a member of staff on it, all the time? Plus I bet it puts people off, getting ambushed as soon as you go in. Anyway, it meant I couldnt get my phone back from repair today, as its screen went mad the other day.

This does that ding ding noise as well, I can see that getting on my tits very quickly.

Seth- I bet a MGB feels a darn sight quicker to drive then this, Hell My 1602 felt 100% faster then this!

Posted

My Sportage does the ding ding thing. At least it did until I pulled the fuse. I've yet to find anything else that uses that fuse so happy days.

I'm finding myself suffering from near-constant tiredness at the moment, when I come home from work I need to doze off for a few hours and then I still want to sleep for the usual amount at bedtime. I must be spending about 10 hours asleep a day. It's doing my head in and I'd like it to stop.

Yes, but there's probably no such thing.......

I've found one that suits me, Camry 2.2. Big, comfy, fast enough, not bad on fuel, surprisingly good handling, mini-Lexus quality. Get either the pre- or post-97 models, depending on which looks you prefer. Either way they have a lovely big car feel, and the most amusingly empty engine bay since the V4-engined Zephyr Mk4.

Parts are sufficiently expensive/difficult to get hold of that it makes ownership a slight challenge, and hence all the more rewarding. People who've never had one will scoff, or just not know what it is, but owners are usually very fond of them (not just me).

I'm off to France and Germany next week, and I kind of wish we were going in the Camry not the Primera.
