Cavcraft Posted June 9, 2018 Posted June 9, 2018 1) You know if you pass your driving test anywhere within about 40 miles of Edinburgh, do they actually teach you to stay in the 2nd or 3rd lane despite the fact that's about 11 fucking miles of traffic behind you? 2) Letter from DVLA when I got home just now, tax is up on the Scomadi: £42, yes FORTY TWO FUCKING QUID for a 200cc glorified moped.
dave21478 Posted June 9, 2018 Posted June 9, 2018 I have said it before and will no doubt say it again - Speeding in car parks again - WTF? Is there a new law stating there is a minimum speed of 50mph in all car parks or something?Today is the third time in the last six months or so where I have seen the aftermath of a crash in a supermarket carpark severe enough to blow the airbags and this time require two ambulances and a fire truck.
dave21478 Posted June 9, 2018 Posted June 9, 2018 Just checked my bank account. I paid £187.21 in VED this month. Which is fucking ridiculous. Time for a cull methinks. I know that feel, bro. This is the month I get slaughtered for various insurance policies, including todays arrival, the bloody trailer policy which really grips my shit pipe, as I have now paid out its value in insurance payments, am legally obliged to continue paying and because FUCK YOU thats why, trailer policies dont attract NCB here so its just creeping up year on year.

PhilA Posted June 9, 2018 Posted June 9, 2018 SWMBO keeps moaning that I'm paying insurance on my car but not driving it. Doesn't help that the insurance keeps going up. It was an additional $38/mo to put it on as a third car a couple of years ago, it's gone up to $47/mo and that's on an agreed value/limited mileage policy ($1600/5k pa). That and the price of fuel is back up again. At least I got a pay raise that doesn't really cover everything still (2%, first in 2 years because of the economy etc etc). Blah.
Frogchod Posted June 9, 2018 Posted June 9, 2018 Here's the trailer in question.Yes, that's 160M of 25mm cable and other junk about to be towed away with DW8 power chaseracer 1
AlabamaShrimp Posted June 9, 2018 Posted June 9, 2018 Sodding reversed the Frontera into the barrier in a car park. Turned the engine off to roll back a tiny bit but just didn't look back as I thought I was miles away. I wasn't straight so a nice clanging noise. Other side. Yeah so it's moved a tiny bit in. Nothings bent and no paint off but I'm still annoyed. When I get chance I'll see if there's anything I can move back into place.
Noel Tidybeard Posted June 9, 2018 Posted June 9, 2018 cpj could you not get the other half involved in your compay a bit like with some of the admin type stuff thus taking some of the strain of you and involving her at the same time? myglaren 1
The Moog Posted June 9, 2018 Posted June 9, 2018 Leaning in through the car door earlier to try and reach something (being lazy in process) and heard horrible crack from rib area. Very sore now - hoping it is nothing broken. Quite pissed off as well as going diving in 3 weeks.

Looks as rough as arseholes, looks like it's missed a final sanding. If it were a £50 jobbie I'd do it myself, but they can swap the bugger. Sent from my VFD 710 using Tapatalk GrumpiusMaximus 1

There was a very nasty crunch and acute localised pain whilst twisting or bending which lasted a couple of weeks. You should be fine again in 3 weeks. chodweaver and The Moog 2
PhilA Posted June 9, 2018 Posted June 9, 2018 FFS if you're going to die please write a will before you do. Ugh, 4 years of family infighting, lawyers, court and heartburn. Not to mention the cost. DeeJay 1

Zelandeth Posted June 11, 2018 Posted June 11, 2018 Apparently different trees have different sorts of sap. The stuff the tree (Canadian Pine I believe) by our drive drops on the cars is totally oblivious to normal car washing materials and basically needs to be polished off. If you manage to get it in the 30 seconds before it turns to glass it then just smears everywhere requiring the whole panel to be polished. It's maddening. The sodding stuff doesn't seem to dissolve in anything... My grump for today relates to technology. Specifically modern devices with utterly stupid user interfaces. Case in point, a Dell monitor I have here. Kerbside freebie on account of it being "broken" - it had a duff HDMI cable... Switching between the inputs requires a minimum of seven button presses across three different unlabelled buttons. Yes they're technically labelled in the menu - but it doesn't line up with the buttons. Seriously, what was wrong with a button that was just the source control? It's really not a problem...just makes me roll my eyes and wonder what they were smoking when they decided "yeah, this is an efficient solution!"
