Bloody late one as well by the looks of things. Top work I say, trust the engine sounds like a skeleton break dancing on a tin roof?

Good work fella :D Lets see some decent pic's when it arrives.

HP being a Warwickshire reg eh.......wonder if it was ever used as a factory demonstrator etc, or just a loyal local resident?

I would have thought by 85/86, every single Alpine and Solara (or Rapier and Minx to be pedantic!) would have been pre-reg'd as a Peugeot UK management car. Awesome buy though - 1592cc's of rattly loveliness.

Nice one :) Did it ever go through Goodfellows Garage of Walsall? There was an identical one around this part of the world for years, I would think it was the last local survivor; just wondered if it might be the very same car.

Thats rather nice! What are these fine steeds like to drive? I assume they are incredibly grim :)

That's the thing - they were apparently quite nice to drive back in the day, if a bit soft of suspension and understeer prone. I've never driven one - I must do something about that!

There's one of Trigger's road test scans, comparing one to a Hyundai Stellar (The Korean Cortina) and a Daihatsu Charmant. I don't think it comes out too well in the roadtest, but what do motoring journos know? Top purchase sir! I'd get the brakes checked though, it seems to have overshot the road and ended up on the grass in that photo :D

Please post some nice pics of the car inside and out soon! Can't wait to see them. My friends father had an Alpine in the early 90s. It was hilarious, but comfy. It used to make a ding noise when being changed from 3rd to 4th gear. I remember the front seats seemed to be massive.

You be meaning this one here then. http://www.flickr.com/photos/triggersca ... 859172527/

It's a Solara rather than the Alpine but it does quite well, They only give it lower marks due to it's age and price and bettering over Hirst's Charmant.

Thinking about it has anyone got a Stellar?, We could recreate the road test again 26 years on!.

I had a 1.6LS Solara for a few weeks. It was bought as a stopgap, and ended it's days as a workshop hack. I was VERY surprised at how well it drove, and the powersteerng was great. It was gold and rust, and my missus at the time refused to get in it.

Top purr-chase Wuvz.I'm holding out for a Chrysler version - but I don't think it will ever happen. My old Pop had one and I regret not taking more notice of it at the time. I just remember it seemed huge inside - and I loved the (full-width?) air vents on the dash. To this day my dad's still annoyed that he never got the heater to blow warm.

I don't think I have ever seen a Cavalier of that age with power stering. Did anyone ever pay the extra £267?

I'm looking forwardto your initial 'driving observations'.Looks a good buy though-nice one.

I used to right enjoy driving my one of these, i think you'll be pleasantly surprised.

My dad used to sell those new. I remember him coming home in an A plate red and silver Solara 'Minx' on the day A plates came out. He replaced it with a new 505 STi shortly afterwards, but I remember him swerving all over the place in the Solara going on about it having quite good power steering.I quite like 'em really. Mate of mine was given his mothers 4 yr old, 30k mile Alpine SX when he passed his test, blue one with the computer and autobox. We converted it to manual and it was rather nippy.Thrashed it to within an inch of its life for a few years and it kept on tickin'. Eventually scrapped when it was about 8 years old as there wasn't much worth keeping. Failed the MOT on just about everything. Still ran well though.
