Mother fuckers!

Esure won't insure it - too old.

Classic insurers will touch it, if you're into that sort of thing.

Interesting about Esure having an upper age limit, as I had a J reg 19 and not that much newer 605 insured with them in 2018.

It's 28 years apparently

Footman James have given me a decent quote, so I'm keeping both cars!

Just been out for a drive (travelling to exercise) , after putting some fuel in (5 litres of veg oil).

Runs like a dream, gearbox is nice and precise, driving position is good, all is well. You wouldn't even know it is a diesel from inside.

It's nice to have this, and know I've got the Rover to fall back on if I have any issues.

First problem to address is the driver's side electric window not working. May have a look later this week. Its not like I'm busy ?

Just been outside to clean the dashboard, as my earlier anti covid wiping had dulled the plastics.

That BX looks a proper belter. As I recall the diesel autos were always something of a rarity. The first one I remember seeing was a taxi in Cambridge c1986.

That's the one, yes. Roffled and won by me, delivered today by Mr FG himself.

Generally because most people who test-drove one decided that the "somewhat leisurely" performance was a bit too slow and bought something else.  The earlier square-port 65hp XUD9 versions were hilariously slow.  The performance data went something like:

0-60 mph : Yes.

That's ace. I'll swap you a go in that for a go in my Panda when we can, I've got a real hankering for a BX.

Please don't cut the springs on this one ?

Dons reverse baseball cap, grabs grinder and hacksaw, goes in for the chop, "f*?£ me, where are the friggin' springs?!"

It's starting to look like a classic, for sure, all that retro space-age design and brutish individualism. Though, the dash looks almost normal!

I had it the other way round a long time ago: a very normally styled Seat Malaga (though now extinct in the UK) but it had a proper crazy dash.

That looks absolutely lovely btw, it's scrubbed up well. Please don't do anything daft to it ?

That's the reason I'm keeping the Rover, to channel my silliness ? Then I still have a nice unmolested classic to drive about in.

I think the suspension needs to be set on the highest setting, and knobbly A/T tyres fitted.

Offroad is the new look. 4x4 badge on the rear... weird...

Scrap that,  the frontal treatment of this one wins.

Joking aside, do keep it standard though.

In all seriousness though, the only things I can see to do are to paint the wheels silver*, and replace the modern Citroen badge on the back with a silver and black one.

*Or swap to steels with trims.

Ps. This looks good mind...

BX 16v wheels are great and while I am generally a fan of original I changed my BX from doctor spec to 16v!

I guess that could be a reason for a change, if 6C likes them they must be fuddy duddy!

My dad bought this car new and it had wheel trims, but they look awful and fall off.

What about a new spoiler and rear diffuser. Easily reversible when the time comes to sell.

Call that custom!

Don't you recognise a 1990 BX 16TRS when you see one!
