adw1977 Posted November 2, 2019 Posted November 2, 2019 I don't think we've had these yet. Halifax, sometime from 1983 onwards. LCX649W - untaxed since May 1996 MCP621H - untaxed since July 1987 UVR200S - also untaxed since 1987 Renault 9 was probably pretty new at the time. Late Marina coupe in the background on the right. Early Passat on the left? And in the distance, what looks like a Chrysler Alpine in a fetching autoshite two-tone colour scheme! Cortina AOW 646V - untaxed since Feb 1990 lesapandre, JeeExEll and Skizzer 3

Frogchod Posted November 2, 2019 Posted November 2, 2019 I'm a certified Vauxhall hater. But blimey , that Cavalier looks good. Soft squishy seats or Vauxhall granite in these ? JeeExEll and trigger 2
Frogchod Posted November 2, 2019 Posted November 2, 2019 How did I miss this thread, great stuff in here. If this wasn't in Cambridge this 70's tastic woman is my mother... Shep Shepherd, Sudsprint, JeeExEll and 1 other 4

At first I though PB Cresta , but then noticed the headrests. Maybe an Audi or bearing in mind Sainsbury's in Cambridge would be a good hunting ground in the 70's for future politicians, a Volga? Spottedlaurel Posted November 2, 2019 Posted November 2, 2019 I'm inclined to agree on PB Cresta. Is it/another one also there behind the trolleys in the first photo?

Must have been some of these Its in a different space although near to a scruffy white Rootesmobile again, presumably members of staff. JeeExEll 1

I think that weirdly-shaped white helmet is an early Shoei. Always looked like it had a bit missing from the back.

They were quite the thing - very popular. Was the era of the driver's window deflector - a kind of perspex tunnel that clipped on the drivers side of the car and polythene 'demisters' that glued to the back window. Hardly see any of these 'accessories' these days on on old cars. Was quite a big business this tat and there was loads of it. Presumably not seen because most of it fell apart after a very few years. That Carlton is unlikely to be protection officers as the Royal Family wouldn't have had a second 'Chase car' at that time, even The Queen would usually only have one " Royal Detective" who would sit in the passenger seat of her car. Maybe a couple of BMW R80s in London to clear traffic, that'd be it. More likely the car of that senior copper hovering in the background . i did a couple of courses in the 90's, run by former Met diplomatic officers and from their stories it was a pretty cushy and laid back job, can't imagine it is these days. MKT Posted November 3, 2019 Posted November 3, 2019 Farnham 1993 Whats that in the disabled bay? I first thought Volvo 360 but on second looks it isn't. Renault 5 TL F581 SLU survived until February 2004, lasting just under 15 years, having been registered in April 1989.
