If this is a tidy as it looks and the 21k is genuine then £1500 is a mega BARG.

This SAAB is just the mutts. It belongs parked next door to Margo and Jerry's 145 Estate in TV Heavenland. And if you think this is an excuse to go off on a little fantasy about Felicity Kendal you would be wrong (ish).

There are some sexy beasts on here tonight!  Let's add this to the pile: 12 months ticket, too.

Why, thank you Cameron, I didn't know you cared!

That granny looks nice, needs to lose that front splitter and rear spoiler though.

Wouldn't mind a 2.9 jobby

Very sunny Sunny there, 'BRO'.
It might me a bargain for someone, it's lovely and smart, wheel trims aside.

This week, I am mostly feeling the love for modern-ish Alfas.

LPG'd and looks a good one at £410. Wonder where the tank is, GTV boots are reputedly tiny...

Love the C15 vans. Said as much to the Mrs the other day and then pointed one out to her. First off she said it looked like 3 different cars in one then she corrected herself and said it looked like it had a mullet, either way it made me want one more.

THIS + THIS

FlashPoint.jpg

.... Only fill from jerries, when cold??

Never gave it a second thought in all the years I ran mine. Perhaps I should have done?

Lots of fun things about running an 8/10. Cranking the starting handle at the back of the car made it look like you were winding up a big clockwork toy.

The spare wheel is carried horizontally under the front, behind a drop-down cover, beneath the kicked-up middle section of the bumper. I always threatened to fit a set of giant plastic teeth behind that cover and turn it into a chomping maw, cable-operated by the driver.

Can the 'air ride suspension' lift both ends of the car at once? The photos suggest not.

Else a decent set of wheels and the worst of that travesty would be fixed.

My Old Alpine GTA is still for sale, this time on a no reserve auction. Not a bad old bus this one. The wheels are worth £500 on their own.

I know Chris,I know.

I'm trying to resist. You're not helping. Nor is Breadvanman with the V6 156.

I reckon I'll soon be working on my mother, to persuade her she needs to ditch her horrible Impreza in favour of a pretty Alfa Romeo. She can pay to maintain it, and I'll get to play sometimes, on airport runs etc. :D

Methinks a tidy 2.0 TS 156 Sportwagen would suit (not silver/black please).

That alpine looks v nice.

However...

Is this telling the driver that he has 4.1 gallons left or 18 miles before running out of fuel? If so, she's a thirsty beast.

Bear with me here, this is a high concept 3am observation.

The boot of this car looks like the view of a small room from high up. Like a back room in a run down theatre when viewed from the top of a ladder.

What vehicle does the Pope use when he needs to take an old tumble dryer and some garden waste to the tip?

America makes a "sub-compact" car.

The Gremlin is larger than an Austin Maxi:

AMC Gremlin (1970) Austin Maxi (1969)
Width 1,793 mm 1,626 mm
Length 4,097 mm 4,039 mm

Judging from the hatch, you'd assume this was rear engined.

But no, it's not. Someone genuinely believed this was an appropriate boot for a car larger than an Austin Maxi.

$_12.JPG

Oh, and the earliest, cheapest models didn't even have the opening hatch window. Or rear seats.

I thoroughly recommend having a read of this Gremlin sales brochure which prominently features a Volkswagen Beetle in every photo. AMC must have been very proud to have made a car which was better than the Volkswagen first seen three decades earlier.

The Gremlin is not only 7in lower, but also 10in wider and some 800lb heavier than a VW.
