OPEL MANTA A SERIES 1900 SR RALLYE AUTO 1972 PX ROVER P6 AMAZIN CONDITION - Picture 1 of 22

Of all the cars I've seen on here recently, or indeed since the start of my time here on AS, I think this might be one of my favourites. The Manta A has utterly wonderful styling and epitomises the '70s for me (we had family friends that we used to visit who had one back then). I had a rusty black Rallye in 1991-92 and I would dearly love to have a good one someday. Despite adding it to my watchlist and looking at the listing a number of times sadly it won't be this one, but it's pretty much the perfect spec and colour (although I would probably put the Rostyles back onto it).

I feel a bit sorry for people selling stuff like this.

On the one hand, it's extremely rare and it's only done 11,000 miles.

On the other hand, it looks like a pram.

Maybe just list it with £99 start and see what the market decides?

£8000 Coventry

It is a really nice example, but the price tag will put most people off.

And these, this one with a sad tale and a shit attempt to hide the plates

Yup - rather a sad tale in the description :-( - been there, done that, bought the parts and the T shirt These days, if I can't fix it myself then it's -

This is just close enough to the sea to roll those wheels in and get your missus to help throwing the other shit it off there too

It's NOT a shame these are disappearing rapidly

FTFY

i still remember my dad getting one and it breaking down on a weekly basis, one day the ignition barrel somehow managed to get so hot it melted the key into the ignition, dad would leave his coat over the steering wheel whenever he'd park it after that to hide it, though i know deep down he wished someone would have come along to steal it. He swore he'd never own another ford after that and so far he's stuck to that word

1961. Stored and stood in garage for 13 years. Engine and gearbox working ok brakes need attention (not seized). Minimal welding required. Mostly original paint work. The condition of this car is in keeping with its age. In need of TLC. Minimal work needed to make road worthy. Otherwise a sound base for a nice project.

How about that Cortina you’ve always promised yourself ?

2.0 for safer overtaking

That looks very expensive for a car that a) sounds like it doesn’t run and b) looks likely to be rather rusty in lots of key places.

The beige Mk4 posted more recently looks a much better bet, although I’d still want to know what’s underneath all that brown paint on the NS lower body before proceeding further. The boot floor is nice and clean though, always a good sign.

Mercury LN7

Wiki:

Performance wasn't the car's strong suit, since the EXP weighed about 200 lb (90.7 kg) more than the contemporary Escort but carried the same small 1.6 L CVH engine rated at 70 hp (52 kW) and a standard 4-speed MTX-I manual transaxle.

Ford expected to build and sell 200,000 EXPs and 70,000 LN7s in the 1982 model year, with approximately half that number making production.

Competing against the similarly configured Honda CR-X,

An interesting and rare model for sure, but not surprising really that buyers would rather choose to have a CRX...
