Yeah, but you'd always be able to say that you took the bus to work, and so flaunt your green credentials, while so obviously not being in any way environmentally friendly.

I must do a shot of our parking area at work.  There's no way on earth I could get a bus on it!  Heck the Volvo takes up so much that people are complaining.  I just turn up Popmaster...

But, Gardner engines will run on veg you know....

Hmm, 30 year rule, 9 ish mpg bit of fun, no no NO! Been there. Done that. Don't want to do it again.

Maybe.

The HLE had the wanky revolutionary incredibly long geared 4th gear that was supposed to act like a 5th gear for monster economy and led to juddering at 30mph

Yeah the steering wheel is a rong un too.

And I thought you got headrests with an HLE.

Still if it's a 1275 it won't last much longer anyway.

I've got a 1982 AR brochure beside me, only the HLS had the head rest but the steering wheel is from a later model, It's also "economy tuned" what ever that means!.

I've been looking at wanky 4x4's for a couple of grand as the season of KAOS is nearly upon us.

These RX300's are right up their in the wanky stakes and I imagine parts are crippling. I bet they have good bum warmers though.

I think if we've established anything on Autoshite over the last 18 months it's that P38 Range Rovers are cronic rampant old crocks. This ones done a load of mles but looks mega clean.

These newer shape Legacy's seem to be serious value for money. I bet the 2.0's pretty slow i recon the 3.0R is the one ot have but they seem to start around 3 grand.

This one's just 1300 quid and has LPG. Downside is it's done 193k

I like the looks of the these big daft Cherokee's (other than the shiny wheels). They seem to have a baffling combination of diesel and v8 engines right enough.

2.7 diesel, 3.0 diesel, 4.0 v8 (I think) 4.7 v8. The diesel sounds like the sensible option but I recon the 4.7v8 will be more fun and probably a bit cheaper.

Cor that Metro is a bit of alright. I think G. Cox should get on this, he could set up a "dented BL tat" fan club.

10.3:1 compression ratio, special carburettor (later fitted to most if not all 998 Metros), longer gearing as Micrashed said.  The carb was worth 5-10 mpg over the ordinary one (from personal experience, that was the improvement on my own HLE when I finally tracked down one of these carbs in 1993) but, properly set up, these would handle 30mph in top gear no problems, including going up a 5% gradient.

I love them, they're fantastic - 45-50 mpg no problems - and I'd love to try one on LPG with the compression suitably adjusted LPG's higher octane.  Yes, I really am that tight.

Even if that ad was brilliantly written I don't think I could buy a car off someone called Tyrone

No it's not. It's a rusty old Fiesta. The end.

By these standards, the '79 Fester I had was an ultra unique mechagodzilla rat look masterpiece. I just thought it was a rusty old POS.

Oh, Bucketeer, how can you look at this tatty brown and gold stunner, with shite spots cut into the grille and dirty original raised plastic digit numberplate and think anything other than

A cheap Mustang.  Also in the parts section, also with OMGHGF, but I can't see that being too much of a PITA to sort on an old pushrod engine like this.
