My dad’s first car was an A35. Even in the 1960s it was rusty- handbrake pulled off in his hand etc.  had to sell in the end he says as there was a tyre shortage and the correct size wasn’t available. Got a two-tone Hillman then.

Yes the handbrake level exited through the floor - a single rolled-over pressing - which attached to a crossways tube under the car which picked up the handbrake cable. They all got crud in them at the join in the floor and snapped off.

I'm surprised at the reception this one has received. They were a proper laugh to drive and even in standard form, were super grippy when thrown into the corners. The interior was a bold choice by BL at the time - I don't think anyone else had thought about red seatbelts even being a thing. All of this combined with the fact it's done a paltry 47k suggests the price tag isn't at all unreasonable. Yeah, the front wings are a different shade of silver, but that's how they've all looked for the last 40 years. Find another, etc.

I'd second that bit - we had the smol A series engined ones as wee panda cars (I think they may have had a slightly different tyre profile from the standard 1 litre) and they were really, really hard to unstick on corners. Mind you - that was going everywhere in third at max rpm. Most of them would show at least one replacement (gold block) engine in the maintenance log book and several replaced core plugs by the time they'd done 40,000 miles.
Razzed to death they were disposed off if they got to three years old via Enfield BCA. Bargain innit?

p.s. I don't like the wheels on that one either tho' :-)

And on today’s edition of weird things to mention in an advert; someone selling an MG TF:

Fit a Hayabusa engine .

Then the steering will be lethal.
