Self centering of the gearstick isn't a huge worry. Annoying though. That's a Fiat group trait. My mum's Panda did it, and it wasn't even 5 years old at the time. 

Yeah, I researched the gear stick. Take battery out and disassemble the selector and grease it generously is the solution.

The MOT history has me slightly concerned though. Various advisories in the very recent MOT for bushes and suspension components, corrosion on the underside of the body, and fuel lines. Plus cracked tyres and worn/pitted brakes all round. Probably be a good couple of hundred quid on top to get all that sorted. Plus, you'd still have air con that doesn't blow cold and an annoying blinking odometer.

Meanwhile I got back into the 316 and it doesn't have anything wrong with it. Yes, its MOT history is worse, but I've since sorted most of the advisories.

My mate Dave had a 2000GT 4 door that he drove like a total bellend, one night after the pub with his girlfriend  in the passenger seat , he attracts the attention of TVP’s Finest, who attempt to stop him ... Their first mistake was to be driving a 1256 Chevette, he soon got out of sight , parked on someone’s drive and was on his toes. About half mile towards home a Police car pulls up and  stops him, the Copper calls into control to say he’s got 2 people walking and asks for a description  of the Cortina occupants. Dave who’s white and  stands about 5’9” and his girlfriend ( now wife ) blonde and barely 5’ tall, almost pissed himself laughing when he heard “The driver and passenger are both big black blokes“ Those black PVC  GT tombstones saved his bacon, that and a shortsighted racist Policeman.

I hear of people being called racist all the time when quite often they're not

For example Stormzy announced he was donating money for something , on facebook somebody just wrote his music is shit , he got accused of being a racist 

If the copper saw the seats in the dark and though they were 2 big black blokes how is reporting the description racist.

SS1, currently £205, no reserve. Has anyone on here got one of these? Might be worth it for bits; needs a tickle with the sparkly stick, and trim stuff that is probably made of unobtanium. And the wheels can get in the sea.

This was a Copper in 1981, I wouldn’t want to put much money on him not being racist...

But yes I accept your point , say what you see.  
My mate Curtis , who reckons he was the only black kid in Buckingham at one point, reckons he got stopped and searched every time he came to MK and I’ve been with him outside a pub getting a kebab and he was the only one taken to the Transit for a search, more than once. Even if there was a scrap, he’d be the first one the Police would grab, could be because he was the smallest in our group, though.

But I agree that Stormzy’s music* is shit.
