That's the correct A series in the maestro they use a VW box rather than the mini in sump type gearbox.

Tasty CX Pallas restoration project from the continent. Doesn't look bad for 675 quid:

Or you could have this.....:

This is the second time this one has come up in the last couple of years. I think this might be the one which Keith Adams (ex-CCW; now Parkers) had for a while. I don't remember the mileage being 77,000 when it was previously offered; thought it was higher.....

The eBay description is either careless (quite a few inconsistencies between the main text and the "item specifics"), or there's something dodgy going on.

If this is a genuine auction, then the next owner should keep a very close eye on that automatic gearbox. And the state of the coolant hoses. And the alternator. And the wiring......

Ah. So A series like in a midget, with separate box ? You learn something new every day.

Apparently these low spec ones are really rare. But they're not really...

Did check the reg between the two, in case it was the same one being resold.

Was red a base spec colour? @Six-cylinder may know I guess?

Last picture on that advert did make me chuckle though. Presumably auto generated.

RE was not base spec, it had luxuries such as radio, rear wipe-wash and front head restraints.

Red was available on most early AXs.

£695, Facebook.

Just for the name 'Escuta Jinka Jinka'. The lifespan of these is probably around the same of a burger from one of those cockroach infected fast food places.

No such thing as a cheap DS anymore, but... this is a cheap DS, albeit slightly flambéd

Had a very quick snoop and I reckon you could find most of the replacement bits for €1000. Assuming the engine isn't totally crackered you could end up with a really nice car... Anyone feeling braver and flusher than me?

Be interesting to seem what that makes. Potentially a very nice car but they can hide horrors. There's another super-clean red one that found it's way onto eBay and has been getting relisted for the past few years at around £8000 BIN.

Edit; oh I found an old picture of it:

Currently on 1700 with 3 hrs to go. Could be a bit of a bargain tbh.

Is that an ID rather than a DS?

That one at Whersted/Claydon Autos has been there a while, they were trying to shift it for £800 when it had an MOT....looks like it needs new sills.

It did look smart in the photos and I wondered why it was still there, needs welding explains it.

Its a pity that they couldn't just reduce the price and practically give it away so that hopefully someone can save it...they'll have paid the previous owner next to nothing for it as a Part Ex

"The car I'm selling is like the one in a TV programme most people probably haven't heard of. Its not the same car mind you, just the same colour. So I'm going to use a screenshot of the car I'm not selling, in the childrens tv show nobody's watched, for the advert photo."

Someone's come to the rescue.

Well done mark, you've handled that much better than I would've done. I'd have been posting pictures of Tardis's and USS Enterprises I was trying to sell identical to the ones in the photo.
