Just googled - yes, early MGF dials - in fact you could probably swap the cluster.

 

The cone filter again points to 'it's fucked'.

I'll have you know this is the King of the hill Super DeLuxe version of the 1300, complete with such luxuries as heated rear window and reversing lights (I know, oooooh!!) - I sold it it a few years back with the fake wood on the dash intact, so lord knows why it now has a base spec dash

That 420 is weird. Trim's been blacked out inside and out, mirrors aren't the same colour as the car, ride height is absurd, wheels from a 6/800, and clearly had a front end prang (badly aligned facelift bumper with no paint, and look at the gap on the driver's side). Non airbag steering wheel isn't right either as everything else on the car is facelift, it would have had an airbag. Again, accident damage?

 

As for the MG instruments: I have no fucking idea.

6/800 wheels don't fit these, they're from a 420 Gsi executive

I remember being part of a mass debate on Facebook a while back regarding one of these. A guy had picked one up for scrap and was telling everyone how it had a carb and everyone else (including me) was telling him how it was impossible and he must’ve got it wrong.
