american car chrysler crown

That's the most stupid title anyone could have ever come up with.

The description is not much better, mind.

For the ones not in the know:

You are looking at a 1965 Imperial Crown Coupe, the last vintage fitted with the venerable 413 engine.

The first thing to check is whether the driver's door inner door handle is intact. They are beautiful,

love to break and are unobtainium. Lack of photo makes me suspicious enough.

Straight in from America

Imagine you came fresh from America after 42 years and the first thing is you end up where this thing ended up.

Cadillac Seville 1975

That's pretty much exactly what it isn't.

Interestingly the ad stands out through impeccable spelling and grammar otherwise, but is partially let down by its content.

very good condition for the year

It would make an ideal wedding car

And something I will forever fail to understand:

It does need the exhaust fixing.

Why was this not done before it was shipped over?

It would have cost a handful of Dollars at Pep Boys, now it's a 250 Quid job.

Shitting nora if it's not a FACELIFT Alfa 166 3.2v6 with manual gearbox. 1200 quid with  long MOT.

I'm off to lock myself in the shed for a cool down.

That's not overly far from me (ok, it's south-west of Aviemore) and I was tempted... until I looked at the MOT history. Not catastrophic, but slightly unsettling.

The advert doesn't really fill me with confidence either.

It is cheap though the last one I saw of that spec of 166 was double the money. Just drive it until the mot runs out or the cam belt snaps and worry about it then.

Hmm. An Alfa Romeo V6 just gives me THE FEAR though, for some reason.

Battery lease ffrom £77 / month

I put less than that in LPG in the Range Rover / month.

Im oot

Indeed. And you have to renew every 3 years or return the batteries (theoretically). Stupid finance plan that! makes the Peugeot Ion looks much better value at just over £4k used now and live with the battery risk yourself.

The Crossfire does indeed share about 80% of its components with the R170, PHAKT.

I'm surprised they don't rot more enthusiastically, being built by Karmann.

Here's another one.  I don't think I've got a small enough gentlemen's third leg to NEED that interior.

Posted

Forget the 3rd leg issues, I havn't got a small enough 1st and 2nd leg for a Crossfire! I certainly like the way they they look, (apart from the oversize rear wheels - sensible wheels available from SLKs) but boy are they ever cramped inside.

Anyway, this Camaro stands out because it doesnt have that stupid T-bar roof that so many have.

More legroom than a Crossfire

Perfect for the drive across France.

MOT history looks good. Odometer in Kms - were the UK supplied ones metric?
