Oooh a Chrysler 2l in Harvest Gold!!!!! SLURP

1500€ seems a bit steep mind, got no exhaust and the vinyl roof is off cos the windscreen surround is all rusty. Still WOOD in a big way if I was not currently suffering Longbridge shite overload

Hmm, that Panhard is only about two hours from Calais.  And it's MOT exempt so wouldn't have to worry about the usual French fibreglass sills etc.  Registering it could be a chore with no paperwork though.

The guy is true to his word, I just offered him £10,000 for it and he said it was way too much and he really wasn't wanting to get more than £120 and a Fray Bentos pie.

Quote from Ebay description:  FOR SALE IS A CLASSIC 1969 MG B CONVERTIBLE (not 100% sure if it is 1969)

Errr ..... it's a Midget.        He's obviously not even 100% sure what the thing is!

Meanwhile, this overexposed behemoth from KGF looks much more appealing at £3495.  Whilst a tool-eater petrol manual doesn't sound like a desirable powerplant for a car "described by Citroen themselves at launch as a ‘space ship’" I deffo would.

I always found these W8 Passats pretty appealing even if it's just for the quirky engine layout and boring looks. I don't think I've seen one this cheap that isn't borked in some manor.

I probably would have bought it if the timing has been different.

Tripchronic though, much better with normal box. Could fancy an estate version with steel wheels, scratched paint, rusting door bottoms and a TDi badge.

This makes quite a few private sales of CXs look overpriced. Has KGF had a pricing re-think or do they not get real Citroëns?

Think those passat W8's are competitive with laguna DCI's in terms of gearbox implosion skills. Still would though

Posted

Either the gearbox is shit or that W8 is a boat anchor as the performance figures look pretty poor for a smallish car with 270bhp. Someone in a 320d could probably embarrass it, which would be a shame given how  much fuel you'll be using at the time.

I've just looked it up and it's both. The auto is 1.5 seconds slower to 60 than the manual and it weighs in at 1.8 tons!

Posted

I'm also confused, KGF usually charge a minimum of 5 figures for a car worth £39. '4 star classics' run a similar business plan.

Bloke wanted to swap my Charade for this but 'didn't know' what it needed for an MoT. Nice fella, mind.

I wouldn't have hesitated 0.01 Milliseconds.

I wouldn't have hesitated 0.01 Milliseconds.

Except it's a hydropneumatic Citroen with 'unknown' issues and no ticket. From what I inferred, he valued the Charade at £400, which was a bit rich given it has no issues and an MoT. It would have cost at least £150 to get the Citroen transported to work's unit. Woo, yeah, an unsorted, pea-engined BX for £550. Christ, where do I sign? And since when did you rate BXs as any cop?

Besides, I can't be arsed with anything highly strung at the moment.

Now that I've turned it down it'll need a 30p bulb for the MoT and be worth thousands of pounds when sorted. I'm so lucky with old cars, you see. Folk get peaches of motors gifted to them for naff all and I could have a pissing Miura in the garage and get £8 for it on eBay.

Whilst I like the idea of V8 oddities, they're never as fast as you think they should be. Thema 8.32 is slower than a 2.0 Turbo and the ZT 260 isn't very fast, in fact neither would stand much chance against the massed ranks of German uber-dizzlers. The noises are great but it would be embarrassing being left in a cloud of soot and particulates.
