Reasonably tidy Acclaim, in super-de-luxe CD flavour and with a fresh ticket.  Totally Equipped To Triumph, as they said at the time.

I've added this to my watch list for when he relists it with a more sensible starting price, like maybe a quarter of the £1400 he's currently asking.

Utterly unrelated but does anyone know how to retract a ebay bid.....

He wants Ã‚£2200 for it

The Avon safety wheels I can just about forgive, although I don't even like them on the later Bristols that they're supposed to be on.

But, WTF is going on with the bumpers? They look like someone couldn't afford to get proper ones ,so whacked some Escort van ones on like an 80's teenager with a mk2 Cortina.

Just noticed the exhaust, it probably sounds like a rich Chav's C63 AMG, Tony Crook must be turning in his grave.

Jesus wept, this seller doesn't half come out with some bollocks...

It's been for about 3 minutes, has loads of bids and mysteriously* it's a private listing.

If it could lose the sideskirts, the shark fins, the childish spoiler, the garish wheels, then only the tasteless interior would bother me.

bin wheels and spoiler and colour code the side gills and WINNAH

You couldn't make this up if you tried...

'BEEN STUD 6 MONTHS'

No wonder he looks knackered.

I have never heard of those MG coupe things before, what a fuggin' horrorshow!

Peter Stevens is a lovely bloke and everything, but somebody should really have a word with him about that styling disaster. Gross in every respect

I have to disagree.

Seriously, this is probably the best picture of the few he's bothered with...

I absolutely HEART that interior, they are dead comfortable and (in a sad, probably exclusive to me kind of way) really nice. It's the LS too, so just about perfect.

Remember I've Written OFF 2 x 1.4 Lsi and 1 x 1.6 Artic in totally my fault accidents. An 8V mk3 astra demands to be driven to the limit and beyond.

Jury's out on this, but it's a lot cheaper and looks quite realistic. And it's a gravity defying thing too....

The problem as I see it is that my understanding of kit car legislation is probably not up to date, but having a V5 for an MG Maestro, when the body shell is different, the chassis is different, the engine is driving different wheels, the suspension is different (probably), the glass, lights, all different, suggests that it's not yet legal for the road, and would probably need to go into some sort of IVA/SVA test. It's the sort of thing that VOSA's free helpline, was set up to help answer questions on.

But in my humble opinion the legal advice from me, is it definitely isn't (yet)

How true the story about Banham buying the moulds is, I have no idea, but I'd think FMC would rather smash the moulds than let some no good kit car maker have them.

the engine is driving different wheels

its front engined and front wheel drive

So probably retains most of the Maestro running gear I would imagine.

My memory of these Banham / Banmoco conversions were that they retained the floorpan / bulkheads. Something along the lines of a "chassis" to save all the Man-from-the-Ministry hassle. Don't know much else apart from there was some ragtop Aldi TT-esque thing based on a Metro and something utilising a Jag XJS.

A Morris Major Elite, one of the best Australian cars ever made.   If this were a bit closer, I'd be all over it like a cheap suit.
