Reading about Station's superb Nippa has inspired a small cars only ebay tat post:

Firstly, something which is almost universally reviled. I must confess to quite liking them.

Nowt wrong with a Matiz.

I've played with two, cousin bought one new in 1999(?prolly) and aside from tyres, spent nothing on it for SIX years. Not serviced, and judging by the state of it by the time it came to get shot, never checked the oil either. Did 15k pa in that time, washed every six months whether it needed or not. Gave it a basic service, oil, plugs, filters, leads, a wash and then flogged it for good(ish) money. It's still alive now as far as I know, albeit on its 5th or 6th 1st car owner type.

the other was bought as ex-demo by my mate Monkey, who didn't want to hack his Boxster up and down the M6, then leave it in Travel Lodge car parks. he loved it. 50+mpg, tyres £30 a corner, and servicing £150 a go from franchised dealer. gave it to his mother-in-law when he changed jobs, still going strong, now 7 years old, 50k on it.

I bought one new in 1999. It came with a free servicing package! Seems silly not to make use of that. I did 18,000 miles in about 18 months in it, then stupidly traded it in for half of what it cost. Idiot. I've not bought a new car since. Understeered like a pig on ice, but was a very jolly little thing. I don't like those facelift ones though. Utterly ruined a great piece of small car design.

Anyone fancy taking on these two beauties? I'd be sorely tempted myself if I hadn't just lost my storage.

Re: matiz servicing: Cousins one probably had free servicing too, wouldn't have surprised me. He's a lazy arse, and probably couldn't be bothered. He bought a Micra after the 'tiz and treated that exactly the same. It didn't appreciate it and was last seen on a low loader after being sold as "spares or reapir" on egay. Now has an Ovlov C30. He must have changed his ways, he's had it nearly a year, and he's washed it at least.

"Custom Van" isn't a very imaginative slogan is it?

That's what it said on the V5 of our Fox too........ :?

Those Del boy and Rodney masks are seriously creepy STOP IT immediately.

Their business flier says "Identical Del Boy van for hire". Well that's not true is it? They also used comic sans, which itself should at the very minimum a police caution.

You know how Westfield made their Seven replicas a bit wider after Caterham sued them? Well there must have been something akin to the OJ trial over this because it's as wide as a Ford Scorpio (inc mirrors).

Didn't there used to be a Haynes book on making a home-brew Seven out of an old Avenger or Marina? This one though, judging from the seats might have been made out of Lego.

Funny you mention that. I was just flicking through it in Halfords the other day. I wanted to see if they'd updated it to acknowledge that scrapyards won't give you a MK1 Escort for free just to clear some space in their yard anymore.

I only flicked through it, but they don't claim you can build one for £250 any more and although it's still full of references to Sierra and Cortina mechanics they at least acknowledge the relative scarcity of them.

You have to question the mental powers of anyone who reckons a scrap merchant would give you anything free

I know the chap who is selling this and already turned it down on the basis that I can not afford it! Tis a beauty like

Careful, sambaS is about to EXPLODE in ecstasy!

He also has an early GLS for sale, I expect that'll be up next. Also someone in the OC said it was reshelled, that is backed up by Performance French car quoting that it was yellow. Still it is 100% Rallye but it's like a Cossie reshell. Close but no long yellow fruit. My £2k would be in France getting a LHD restoration project. Were I to have £2k. Am I being pedantic?

That Streetwise is mega-fit and super cheap still considering there is a gang of people bidding. What is the hidden danger?

That Metro sleeper is the best example of a wolf in sheep's clothing I've seen for a long time - I particularly like the Christian fish thingie on the tailgate :D
