Jaguar pick-up 1982

Quote

This Jaguar was converted to a Pick Up in the 1980s allegedly for the Top Gear television  programme.

The V5 was changed properly to Jaguar Pick-up, probably the only one in the world.

I think thats a potential scam ad because that Mercedes was local to me and the pictures are from NW11, London whereas the ad is somewhere up North.

you're probably right, think I do remember it being advertised before

that or someone's trying to flip it for quick profit and can't be bothered to retake the photos

Surely this isn't just natural inflation?  I can't believe the prices I'm seeing, being asked for cars that were mediocre to begin with and are now little more than scrap!  I'm aware the prices of everything have shot up since Covid, but seriously?

Probably best to regard my questions as rhetorical...

Only a C3 so cheap fix swap bellhousing & torque converter with a 4 cylinder one, be more concerned if it's waterpump or crank, remove belt & fire up.

Had cologne cortinas with this & & it can be either.

Engine turns over and fires briefly with easy start. We carried out work on this car in October 2021 and the car passed an MOT test. Unfortunately the owner was taken ill and died without collecting the car.

I'd think a Crayford is like a high end quality product compared to this creation of someone with a saw and a tent.

Used to be a guy in Swansea who cut the roof off a Jag xj40 kind of thing (think it may have actually been a really early Jag V12 saloon) back in the 90's. If memory serves me he had a nightclub or was a DJ something like that. It was always full of party girls driving around the Kingsway at 3 in the morning 🤣🤣🤣.

I think me and my mates spoke to him once and he was a really nice bloke but looked seriously off it on pills or whatever 🤣🤣🤣. Burgundy coloured from memory.

TBH, it's so cheap 'one' probably could get the head gasket done, assuming that's actually what's wrong and not head cracked or something, use the air con luxury to drive to French shitefest and get your money back at summer's end. Gotta dream.

That looks like the 100LWB 6 stud heavyweight version, which allegedly had a better diff so it'd pull to pretty impressive (for the day) top speeds.
