This would be a great color on so many cars including the SLK. Not sure about an R129 though.

Indeed very common.

My Merc has its first German registration from 2006, and then Portuguese registration from 2007, as it was a used import.

 

But now, Portugal cars from the 80s and 90s are being exported to to their body condition
