Have lots of extra bits not pictured including Gullwing doors

Whoa!  I mean, how... whoa.

I love this. The guy sounds like he's got plenty of money but fuck all skills or common sense

Bought this car around 7/8 years ago
With a rusted rear subframe.
I unbelievably found a brand new subframe
For sale and had it professionally fitted.
And an mot put on it at great expense.

Then started stripping it down to paint it green
But never got round to it!!

Who buys a shafted one of these then puts it straight in a garage for a new subframe? Ridiculous.

Quote

so I bought a temporary garage to store it.

Good idea.

Car now sits.... in one of my fields.

Ha ha, why do I never meet these characters when I'm trying to offload my old heaps?

That Alfa Giulietta looks interesting! Mind you this photo would quickly put paid to any urges I was getting about it

This appears to have all the structural rigidity of a tent made from bog roll.

I've been fancying one of these Rover 45-shape Civics lately. The guy selling this one has listed it about 20 times over the last few weeks, it usually sells for anything from £400-700 then is relisted the next day. Sometimes theres been 2-3 concurrent listings for it. I had a bid on it today and sure enough was outbid by one of his 'regular bidders' almost immediately. Why fucking bother with all that palaver?

Looks like the Civic 'bidder' also wants the Lexus that bloke is selling too.

Drives superb and fully loaded are two of the most overused phrases by dodgy car sellers I notice.

'Every boys dream'

...is that the Olympic Torch strapped to the back shoots off, ignites the rope on what we hope is a medieval rock thrower and crushes that fucking car into 673,404 pieces.

"This car is a solid project"

I see. What about those rust holes in the bonnet?

" This will be a good light project"

Uhuh. Are those rust holes in the rear quarter/ rear wings? It seems a bit lop sided too, like it's had an accident?

"I am not a mechanic or have any mechanical background"

There we go.

"MATCHING NUMBERS!"

Ooo great, the Pebble Beach judges will get all sweaty about that.

this is a very un-super, super minx. i was unaware that there was a convertible version of these. it must be a factory thing cos its only got 2 doors?

i can see the future for this poor old thing, it involves an oval and 5 minutes of glory. which is sad, cos a Super Minx are usually great.

a distinctly un shabby trabbi, with correct engine, in Bideford, of all places! and comes with quiet a selection of spare parts.

nice car for someone.

Blimey that's clean!

I wonder has anyone (in the UK) ever taken the driving test in a properly engined trabant?

"remember dont freewheel"

"yeah about that...."

Posted

sadly you couldn't use that trabbi for a practical driving test, as that has to be done in a car with headrests fitted.... :-(

dunno where that idiot rule has come from, other than our euro-overlords of course.

Nice try Mrs Farage, but actually they only need a head rest for the passenger (examiner) and it's for his or her safety.

And to be fair, look at it from an employer's point of view.

The primary concern should be a duty of care to the employee.

If the only care the employer takes is insisting that the car has a seatbelt and a head rest it's not exactly going above any beyond reasonable steps us it.

If they insisted that tests could only be taken in cars with dual controls, then I think they could actually be forgiven.

But where's the fun in that.

If only, M8, if only.

Pretty sure I saw one last night on the outskirts of Canterbury. Catering van, obviously.

Be like Kiltox, except this one has an MOT.

If ACA is anything to go by, there's potential for a decent profit here if you can get it running properly again (or just running well enough to drive through the auction tbh...)

Look at this beauty!  It's an Imperial so it'll have the Selectaride adjustable dampers, as well as the Coachwork by Thrupp & Maberley plates which are one of the most English things I've ever seen on a car.  It doesn't even look that rotten.  Seller reckons engine won't turn, but still a potential bargain to be had I reckon.

I'm actually tempted to have a bid, despite having no money, nowhere to put it and nothing powerful enough to tow it home with...

Later Trabants did have headrests and I remember the lovely hardback handbook mentioned that driving without the headrests fitted was not permitted.
