The current wheels are shite. Theyre OEM but look horrible and badly need a refurb so I'm looking for some steels that will fit and possibly some ALL TERRYIAN tyres. For some light Laning.

  • 2 weeks later...

We are a pushing on into a fortnight of Ssangyong ownership and it has been busy.

It's first trip out was up to Weardale to see @Jimbob McGregor

Verdict from the SKYRAMP tm is that she is reassuringly solid. Which is nice.

It's really in its elephant going up and down lovely hills slowly.

Its not a horrible place to sit for the odd four hours so I ran it up the hill for some Scotoshite GLFing.

She couldn't beat a freshly laid egg but she tried her best.

Credit to @davidfowler2000 for the trackside youtubing.

versus @rml2345 in the handsomest Volvo at the track. (though he did cheat by putting redexx in the tank after the tech inspection. Those extra octanes really made the difference)

And in car.

My three 20 second runs were by far the slowest of your day but it's not about winning, it's about grinning.

Great to see all the attendees. Top bants as ever.

After racing, I swung past to see @Lacquer Peel to pick up some pressed juice  of the vegertals.

Think we fitted about 600 litres of fuel into it. And about 600 old car magazines.

She sat a bit low on the way back down the hill but the engine did not give two fucks about the heavy load. It pulled just as well as it did empty. It's such a good lump.

Think it was about 400 miles round trip. Through sun, torrential rain and fog. Over b roads, country lanes, motorways and down a drag strip. It doesn't feel at home on any of them to be honest, I think it would prefer to be off road. All in all she's not a bad turn for and auld girl.

Aye, though if I got travel sick driving it as I did last week, I wouldn't fancy being in the boot much at all.

I love how the camera mic can't cope with the OM612 roar...

Looks to have quite a decent turning circle for an ess you vee, or is that just an optical illusion?

I've not been hindered by it so it must be decent enough. I've not done any U Turns in narrow lanes but it manoeuvres ok for its LUMP.

How much you wanting for that merc? Asking for a friend..

It's on eBay on a £999 start auction at the mo man. Due to finish on Friday. It's a bit more than I paid (imagine that!!) But it's been MOTd and the market has gone a bit bonkers value wise in the last year.

Excellent  it's a few years since I've been to crail, one thing I've not missed is that key sound while off roading it used to get on my nerves as I always forgot to remove the jangley bit from mine before launching into the scenery.

How did yours get on with off roading man? Was it a decent turn? I'm hoping to take mine to Drumclog once I have some decent tyres.

See, if youd bought a Ssangyong first, you wouldn't have needed the jago, Navara, Ranger, Vitara, Jimny, Land Rovers and Landcruisers!
