Shitting in the shallow end. *Arse friends Electric*

Well this kind of thing was becoming less and less and less tolerable.

Tyres all looked well enough treadwise but they were not holding the expensive premium air in and the date codes seemed to be written by quill by one of William Shakespeare's contemporaries.

@sdkrc dug up a VOUCHER COD for some PREMIUM RAEC TOYYO BOYYOS so I got some ordered.

*Wait for three days*

Ta-da!

Less and less places seem willing to fit tyres they haven't sold these days, so I went somewhere that I knew would.

They don't have many 15s on the wall. Or 4x100s for that matter.

My bill was probably the smallest of the day, or at least the cheapest I ear-wigged while I was sitting waiting.

I love listening to non-car people talk about their cars in trade situations.

1) How much is it for one tyre?

*What size do you need madam?*

I don't know, it's not my car.

2) I've left the nut device on the steering chair.

3) My TPS light is on. Can you have a look at it?

*Have you already tried putting air in the tyres?*

No. Will you do it?

Fantastic bants at the tyre shop.

Passed 500 miles on the first tank on the way home. Any bets on what the mpg will be at top up?

Further snagging list fannying.

The boot was failing to keep the rain outside, leading to damp boot carpet and window misting.

Theres about 6000 usual suspect access points for water on these old Cavs so I armed myself with what was left in my tube of black silicone and attacked (and almost missed) some of the key likely areas.

My solutions are inelegant. Tradesmen and professionals may wish to look away now.

Ariel seal. Big gap.

Splodge, splodge.  I got enough black mess in the cracks, that SO FAR (touch wood, fingers crossed, turn around touch the ground no takey backsies) the boot hads remained dry. Even in real grown up rain.

Which is nice.

Celebratory colours going on.

And a few wanky mood shots.

Still loving it.

Starts so well, and drives well enough.

Still plenty to improve, but it's a good example.

What is the black mess product?

Does it drive better with the new tyres? Some of the old ones were pretty ancient.

Just Halfords best Granville Sealant. It does drive better man aye. Not that I've driven it that far.

Go for a silly drive! We need MPG numbers.

I confirm it doesn't spin the wheels (accidentally) when pulling away uphill in the wet.

I'm going to take it out and fill it up today I think.

Filled the car up today and  after typing all the numbers into Fuelly the magic number on the first full tank is in fact..........

48.5 mpg.

Which isn't bad for such a big old bus. Not sure why Fuelly signatures have stopped working.

I was quite pleased and surprised with how clean the filler area was (first time I've opened the flap).

Maybe with the boost leak fixed the next tank will go a bit further. It's pretty good for a couple of long trips and local pottering about.

I misread it at first and wondered when a skip company had opened up in Horncliffe.
