Clitroen ZX. Saved. Phew

We're basically motoring Wombles, but not as cute.

Possibly explains why I have nice dark green Turbot Sedan 306 hidden in a rented council garage.

Don't understand why some get so fucking angry about questions. He is only asking to get an idea of what might need doing to get it back to rude health. Not the end of the world and no one's been maimed or killed. Come on lads lighten up, it's only a forum...

Blimey.

Calm down.

It's a used ZX. It's never going to pristine resto as long as my arse points downwards.

I'd put original post up to ask anyone wanted anything for free as it was most probably going to the bridge.

I'd been quoted 144 scrap and if someone wanted complete car as engine and gearbox good I'd accept a sensible offer from here to at least save some of the bits becoming a fridge

Well, would be nice if someone saved it. So I'm bumping the thread.

I was going to ask if it had a towbar, but obvs that would sound like I'm taking the piss now...

95 smackers, got any other pics to whet the appetite? Surely someone will grab this!

Edit: just saw your above post. Hopefully should see it across the line.

I really hope this stays on the road and in the fold - shame it's so far from me otherwise I'd be proffering fistfuls of tenners in your general direction

Thanks but not for me.  Got offered a 205 diesel last night and collected at 6 this morning.

Just scrap it and get your money. If the alternative to selling here is facing Gumtree/Autotrader/eBay or the swiveled eyed lunatics who populate the Citroen Car Club, scrapping will be far easier. You've offered it for scrap money, nobody wanted it, so if anyone moans at you they can boil their head.

It’s one of those. Everyone wants to save it but nobody will part with the time or the cash. Some you win, some you lose.

Probably worth having the bits of the engine off, head etc, saleable on here when/if someone needs bits.

the swiveled eyed lunatics who populate the Citroen Car Club,

You make them sound like the kind of people who draw cocks on toilet doors.

Edit: Mods working their magic so the above makes no sense so...

Not including you in that remark, Dean. You were very un-swiveled eyed when I met you, but all I will say is that the Citroen Car Club didn't exactly cover itself with glory on Facebook over that Xantia of mine.

I offered it for free, and nobody wanted it, to the car club and on here. I even put out a post on its Facebook page saying anybody who wanted parts from it could come and help themselves.

When it was still on my drive two weeks later (and still dead), I broke the news that it was with André Citroën in automotive innovation heaven, and pitchforks were drawn.

To be honest the BLARG scene is just as bad, and don't even start me Rover 800 mouth foamers on AROnline.

And that's why I tend to just scrap worthless cars rather than re-home them these days.

Does it make me bitter? Yes. Does it make my life easier? Yes.

I just don't think me and Citroens (and the Citroen community) mix. It's a shame because I actually really like the cars, especially 90s stuff like the XM, Xantia and ZX.

Anyway, I'm glad the ZX is saved.

No offence taken lol. To be fair I've found that the same in most car clubs. For some people words are easier than actions. I'd have loved this myself but I'm already up to 6 bloody Citroens and no more room at the inn. Great news it's going to be saved though.

R8 lickers tend to be an alright lot - they're just a bit mad usually!

This happened today.post-19511-0-57343100-1549326112_thumb.jpg

As I agreed to buy it before the new year, I haven't actually broken my 'don't buy more shite in 2019' new years resolution

Well done. Sadly wasn't able to be there for collection.

Good save

Im glad I didn't drive it home. After being stood, the battery was dead. Luckily I bought another with me. It wouldn't run for long though, it is sucking in air from somewhere. No big deal though. It also did that wonderful thing that cold ZXs do, where you open the door but the latch sticks and it won't close again.

But on the bright side, it looks a straight old thing. Loads of life left in it. Oh and I fixed the sunroof issue you mentioned. I pressed the button and it went down...

Happy customer, despite the 400 mile round trip. Thanks

I'd put money on the air being about to run out of fuel. Sometimes fuel gauge lies like a cheap Chinese watch
