Never wrenched anything off doing it, just moving a spanner a bit. Key is having the right sized sockets and spacers.

It will, however if you lock the boot or glove box with the black Key then try to open it with the grey it wont do it, doesn't matter how old the car is or the spec it's just something Toyota do.

 

Toyota dont give out master keys like the red Honda Keys as far as I know.

 

 

 

Tailgate is a 'slam to lock' so key only turns clockwise to open. If you didn't want the valet/car park attendant to get in the boot, then surely it wouldn't have a remote mechanical release under the driver's seat? Glove box doesn't have a lock, so really, it's like having a 3rd key that does nothing special!

Not noticed it. All keys only turn one way, and it's turn to open or turn other way to snap key

No my Nissan Bluebird had a similar, limited functionality key (red)'which i was told was a valet key but I never paid it any attention.

And my Beemer, it opened the doors but not the glove box. Seemed a bit pointless really but was a useable spare.

Herman is posing a weird issue.

 

The coolant and thermostat housing was replaced recently and the cooling system was bled. Now it takes an age to get to 93c and the temp plummets like a stone if I had the sheer nerve to turn the heaters up in temp, which don't really kick out the same heat they used to. HOWEVER, the dedicated windscreen demist button throws out a lovely heat. 

It's bound to be a stuck open thermostat, right? Winter is round the corner....

Mostly OE ones are designed to fail safe in the open position.

I have also seen examples where they are the right size but have bypass holes for some models. That can have the same effect.

Hondas/Rovers have a key lock on the tailgate release by the driver's seat, to stop it working for valets.

As an owner of an MGF (remember the black one with detachable hard top which roffled and was with Moog briefly?) how brilliant* an idea would it be to use is as a cheap runabout over the winter? Basically those with experience of MGFs in winter conditions I am asking for your thoughts. It will have a hard top on so it is at least capable* of keeping weather out. It certainly is frugal enough to be a runabout.

Which Mini booster/jump pack should I buy?

 

Mine no longer seems capable of starting a car and I am bewildered by the choice looking for a replacment.

 

The last one off Amazon was £30 it is ANNKE 300A Peak, 8000 mAh and has been ok, but I am disappointed it now fails to jump cars after 2 years. It still charges my phone and the torch works well.

 

Has anybody had any particularly good experiences with how well their's has lasted or indeed bad?

Ive got a snap on booster (the normal sort of size you would think a jump pack would be) and have had that 5 going on 6 years it must be now. Still jumps larger diesel engined cars no problem - i keep it on charge in the boot should I ever need it

I have a full size booster pack in good condition, but it is pain to carry around, especially if I go to storage to get a car and carry it just in case.

 

I want a small one again to supplement the big one so it is easy to carry about.

HELP NEEDED!

 

Is there anyone near me (Torquay) that has strength in arms/hand and a very stubby 19mm spanner (open-ended) ? I have stripped so much from the top of this V12 engine it will never run again, all to give access to the oil pressure switch and I STILL can't undo it! It is really tight and all I have that is short enough is adjustable which just splays when pressure is applied. Bear in mind, I can't apply a lot of pressure!

Would a crows foot spanner be any good? Or possibly an angled type ring spanner? Might give a bit of clearance to get a longer spanner on.

Panic over.... mission accomplished with the aid of my Mate round the corner. We cut down a spanner, still couldn't undo the bastard. Ended up taking the housing and oil pipes off so we could get free access. Even then, had to go in a vice and get hit with a BFO hammer! Never known something so simple be so effin tight! I now owe Vasza new 19mm spanner and a lot of beers

Jump start packs:  I've got one of these, and it does a great job for £62.     It recently started my diesel Land Rover no bother at all when it had a completely flat battery after my brother left the interior light on for a week.  When out camping last weekend the USB sockets kept our phones charged all weekend, as well as being a handy way of powering the air bed pump when the car was some distance from the tent.   I keep it in the boot of the car, because it's smaller and handier than jumpleads.  It's a really handy thing to have.
