As reported here - http://autoshite.com/topic/34195-trans-continental-colleckshun-fred/?do=findComment&comment=1712762

the true gentleman that is Saabnut picked me up and brought me to his lovely French abode today. Just in the nick of time as it turn out judging by the reports of snow from the Mosel hours after we left. The journey across France was warm, speedy, and featured much pylon spotting.

Time to dump the last few Mosel pictures.

If you do get a chance, please do try and get to the cite du train in Mulhouse. I wish I'd taken more pictures, but I had a 10 month old to entertain. We'd have spent a lot longer there now he's two!

Mrs6C knows stuff about Aerotrain.  Glad you're tucked up cosy at La Domaine de Saabnut.

On the autoroute near Orleans we passed an interesting looking raised concrete concrete track, looking similar to a maglev route. After some googling we found out that it was from an experimental Aerotrain.

More details here - https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aérotrain

Six-Cylinder and I toured the remains in 2012...

Just to give a bit of visual help for those who haven't been there

Didn't Spottedlaurel visit that track on one of his French forays?

I did, following previous mention of it on here from Mr & Mrs 6C. Well worth stopping for a look.

Looking forward to the next installment of this adventure.

This thread had evaded me somehow.. Just caught up now. Glad you've found a bit of respite with a like-minded dude under a solid roof for a bit. Best of luck out on the road when it becomes road time again.

Gan canny.

Delighted to catch up on this thread, and looks like yesterday's appearance of the Autoshite Underground Railroad was a timely development, since today:

If the German army are having to use tracked vehicles to rescue people trapped in their cars, then it ain't no cycling and camping weather...

Rest up, dude; better weather will surely come.

Aye, I reckon I might have been a little less than joyous in those conditions.

Anyway, today featured a little tour round the locale. Some spots were spotted.

Plenty much more great old wrecks were seen but not photographed. They will be for another day.

And for Mrs6C's Visa log four C15's were spotted within 15 mins of leaving the house. One white, one red, and two this custard colour.

Huzzah! :-)

Think the yellow C15s will be ex-La Poste vans...

Small diversion (French content!) - I acquired my Dyane as one of two that came from the estate of a deceased tenant of a cottage down the road from my rented workshop in Devon around 2002.

I’d spotted one sticking out of an open-fronted building. I found another inside a shed, but not before I found a massive stash of porn on Betamax complete with a very expensive-looking Betamax deck just strewn out of bin bags for all to see.

Felt rather sorry for the dead owner that his secrets were left in such an undignified way...so I left a note and ended up being given the Dyanes rather than his family pay to scrap them.

I left the porn well alone - it was very creepy seeing all that vintage stuff in an abandoned farmstead and I got the hell out of there pronto!
