Wingz123 Posted October 14, 2018 Posted October 14, 2018 BMW 523i E39......for sale....The time has come to sell my beloved BMW 523i. She is at current in storage so with that said, I'll pull her out and she will go with a fresh MOT as she was MOT'd last year, driven onto the back of my truck and offloaded again into a warm dry garage. She drives perfectly and starts on the button. If I just so fancied, I'd jump in this and drive it to the South of Spain tomorrow absolutely no shadow of doubt she'd make it.Gearbox - Spot onEngine - Spot on (straight 6 and sounds beautiful)Suspension - Feels tight and doesn't knock or bang so again I'd say spot onShe has only done 133k miles from memory.Air conditioning works and can say that having owned quite a variety of cars in the past none have come close to the temperature of the air pumped out as this thing....unbelievable...I'm after £995 for a painless sale although I'm sure that one in this condition would fetch £13/£1400 if I was prepared to sit and wait.Pictures are from back in the Summer.Negatives? - Light scratch on the rear bootlid. virtually no rust. two small bubbles that have amounted to nothing on the rear drivers side wheel arch (that's me being extremely fussy) and the headlights might benefit from a polish as they have yellowed just ever so slightly.Car can be in Reading or Birmingham (my wife is from Shirley in Solihull so are up there all the time)....of course I can pick you up from the local train station/meet you at Heathrow etc etc Split_Pin, J-T, jumpingjehovahs and 13 others 16

purplebargeken Posted October 14, 2018 Posted October 14, 2018 Going by the look of it I would totally agree Wingz123 1
BorniteIdentity Posted October 14, 2018 Posted October 14, 2018 Gingercators!! This is a very beguiling little chap and is worth considerably more on gravel with stripes shampooed into the carpets. I’ve never thought about one of these before but if I was looking for a daily, this would be top of the list. Ohdearme and Wingz123 2
flat4alfa Posted October 14, 2018 Posted October 14, 2018 I ran one this year and got 30 mpg on the hack commute. Properly nice cars. Even the young apprentice at the local garage said these were 'the last properly built BMW' Bonus points: Turbine alloy wheels that are a timeless classic.Gingercators that are most likely barely run in (applying a stereotype there). The first 5-series with rack and pinion steerables.First volume production car with majority alloy suspension components. The Reverend Blue Jeans will be along in a minute with further info Wingz123 and BorniteIdentity 2
The Reverend Bluejeans Posted October 14, 2018 Posted October 14, 2018 If Junkmann had purchased this rather than Der Fuehrerwagen, he'd be in a much better mood. For starters it has a proper engine. I can never get very excited about BMW's of this era but a good one really does drive very well. Wingz123, Laseraligningfoofooflanges, stormee and 1 other 4
SRi05 Posted October 14, 2018 Posted October 14, 2018 This looks an absolute beauty, and a BMW is an itch I've yet to scratch. Anyone fancy a Prelude bangernomics and Wingz123 2
Bren Posted October 14, 2018 Posted October 14, 2018 My mate had one and it was very nice. You would'nt win many quarter miles in it but it was a very good cruiser. Wingz123 1
keith777 Posted October 15, 2018 Posted October 15, 2018 I'd donate the price of a few tickets if this is roffled Wingz123 1
Crispian_J_Hotson Posted October 15, 2018 Posted October 15, 2018 I didn't like these when they came out, but... They have aged beautifully like a lot of BM designs. High miles shouldn't put anyone off, I have a 30 odd year old, 218 or something thousand mile, 6 cyl BM still wearing pretty much of all it's original equipment in the engine Dept. I would if I could, but I can't. Wingz123 1
Wingz123 Posted October 16, 2018 Author Posted October 16, 2018 Pulled it out just now to grab some interior shots....she does scrub up well! Aston Martin, Split_Pin, rantingYoof and 5 others 8
Dan_ZTT Posted October 17, 2018 Posted October 17, 2018 I thought I hated BMWs, but this has got me having a major rethink. Looks lovely. Sadly, limited storage means one car at a time for me, but GLWTS. Wingz123 1
Split_Pin Posted October 18, 2018 Posted October 18, 2018 Theres something 'old money' about this, I love it. My Dad always wanted a 5 series but his budget could only stretch to a 318i at the time. If he could, he would have opted for something like this. Wingz123 and mrbenn 2
Wingz123 Posted October 18, 2018 Author Posted October 18, 2018 Thanks all for kind comments - as the pictures do suggest, she isn’t your average e39 of this era - she was clean when I bought her and I have tried my best to continue the treatment regularly waxing her even though she has been in a garage! There has been some interest although it is on a if someone buys mine I’ll buy yours agreement though I’m not sure where that leaves me... :/ Do I still say its for sale or wait or whaaaa?
Split_Pin Posted October 18, 2018 Posted October 18, 2018 Keep it for sale until your desired amount of cash is in your hand. I had some of that patter when I was trying to sell the Coupe, glad I held out for a straight, hassle free sale in the end. BorniteIdentity and Wingz123 2
taxi paul Posted October 18, 2018 Posted October 18, 2018 Bloody lovely.a lad at school inherited his dad's one recently. Same year but nowhere near has sharp as yours. Wingz123 1
Wingz123 Posted October 20, 2018 Author Posted October 20, 2018 Smash it up the threads.... Any interest in a Roffle? If so tickets would be £17... Thanks
Wingz123 Posted November 11, 2018 Author Posted November 11, 2018 I’ll bang this on Ebay this coming weekend. Need to get things moving
Wingz123 Posted January 5, 2019 Author Posted January 5, 2019 Bump - Now with 12 months MOT. It also benefited from a transmission fluid change a fortnight ago now BorniteIdentity, purplebargeken and Aston Martin 3
rantingYoof Posted January 5, 2019 Posted January 5, 2019 If this went to roffle I'm 100% certain a Supernaut would have a ticket, because I would buy one for him. Supernaut and Wingz123 2
Cavcraft Posted January 5, 2019 Posted January 5, 2019 Jesus wept, that interior is minging. Whoever thought that combo was a good idea must be the same person who designed the seat covers in 1990's coaches. To be fair, just sacking that gopping 'wood' trim off would improve it 87.3% on it own. GLWSTM8 red5 1
DVee8 Posted January 5, 2019 Posted January 5, 2019 That is so fit..nowt wrong with the trim or fake wood.would. Wingz123 1
SRi05 Posted January 5, 2019 Posted January 5, 2019 Hnngh, can't believe this never went the first time round. However Jag plus another inbound car rules me out Wingz123 1
