These discussions happened over in Squire Dawson's thread about his gorgeous Humber...

I'll say it again, that Humber is gorgeous.  If you wanted to do a sick old bloke a good turn you could bring it over to the  Lakes and take me for a little ride in it... ;)

EDDYFEST!!

I wonder if there's anywhere in Barrow or nearby where we could park a pile of rammle for the day sometime?

Lakeland Motor Museum.  Those who have already visited will vouch for their tolerance of a load of shite cars arriving at once.

If Eddyfest comes off ya welcome to passenger in the Jaaaaaaaaaaggggg, as a Caddy owner we can't expect you to slum it in a smoll engined car after all.

I'd start a thread for it if I was you, it'll get lost here & was popular last time.

That was five years ago, and I could drive then!

However, yes, the principle is sound and you would all be most welcome.  New thread on way...

And lo, here is that new thread, specifically for the purpose.

A single day is going to be enough.  What do we think of Sunday October 21st at the Lakeland Motor Museum?

Posted

Pretty sure I can do that.  The 205's no Super Snipe, but.........  :D

Ill have a run up unless life pulls out a surprise between now and then.

I must be thinking of another one as I went in the Saab & I've not had it that long.

Posted

I didn't think we'd had another one since!  Oh no, my memory's going now!

Posted

Ah, that one!  Yes, I was having a bit of a meltdown at the time, I jumped ship early-on.  Well it'll be lovely to see any Shiters who care to turn up.  Come one, come all.

Posted

My Range Rover is on paper the most likely to FTP on the way there or back, so I'll come in that if the stars are aligned etc and so forth :)

(it has been faultless so far to be fair, not really a gamble, might drag the shed along to make it more *exciting)

I'm meant to be in Nottingham that weekend, but if I'm in the county, I'll be there!

I'll even take the Amazon along if I have it running by then.

Posted

My birthday! Think we might be doing things further south that day...

Shite in the Lakes II? Count me in, I love the drive up there.

A day of socialising can make me want to withdraw for a month or more.

I have to have a reason to talk to anyone including friends.

Yep, that's me.  Amdram was surprisingly helpful with this, as I can now put up quite a good front for the duration of the contact, but oh boy, I'm shaking afterwards.  I also hate crowds because they intimidate me, so imagine what Eddyfest is going to be like!  But, I'll get through it, because no man is an island and all that.  Isolation isn't healthy, I know that.  I'm quite good at hiding in a space of my own for a few minutes, to recharge.

Could I ask someone to volunteer to leave their car open all day, so I can have a "quiet space" to retreat into?  I may not need it but if I know it's available, that might be good enough.  Nobody needs to make a decision right now, it'll do on the day.  A crowd of Shiters isn't like a normal crowd, which should help!

Not something one should admit to, but I rarely lock shite.

Would have thought you can have the choice of any car that arrives Mr RR, certainly whatever Chas and I rock up in.

Posted

Thank you kind sir!  :)  Anything that shuts out most incoming sounds, and has a big comfy seat, will do really.

Oh and crucially: accepts dogs, as it's looking likely Memphis will be with me for the day.  She's only little, she'll sit on my knee.

You're welcome to slum in the Jaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaag as and when needed too mate

I shall pencil it in. Could have a ride up with the kids. Sounds good. Will there be any pies???????

Posted

Sadly no pies, as I'm not at work.  Sorry!

21st of October is about 7 days before I get paid. It's also that bum-clenching time when I have to decide whether to re-petrol the car or eat.

If I can muster enough ca$h moni£s together, I shall come up. I've always wanted to go to Lakeland Motor Museum and have actually passed it a few times back in my trade-plating days, never had the time for a gander though.

Since I was still in single digits the last time I visited, are there any films or record breaking events I should be watching in advance, in order to make exhibits familiar and exciting?

Anything to do with Donald Campbell, they've got a whole building dedicated to him.
