Homeski - the Autoshite contingent have headed off to the Aldridge Transport Museum.

Lovely to meet some new 'faces to names', already looking forward to the next one.

Many Rovers in attendance - cats' 220 bike, Ghosty's 416 Joseph-ti, Wobbler's 45 V6 (tries not to sob) and....some crappy SUV-pretendalike

First lot ? Rover 25 Mk 2. £160.

I chose the wrong thing to do today. Been chucking it down all afternoon. :(

Did anyone but anything?

No, there were a few accidental bids acknowledged by the Giffer Auctioneer (since when has scratching your bollox been a bid FFS ?) but thankfully nothing terminal.

Hope it was great lads. Apparently I need to be shoe shopping for my lads.

T'was great to put some names to faces. I had a laugh and found out some interesting things about old buses. That museum was excellent and only 15 minutes from the auction.

I absolutely blew the Auction Game by deciding to choose a '58 plate Jaguar XF. The reason behind doing this is completely lost to me, other than that I probably like Jaguar XFs a bit too much. It went for its opening bid of £3000, which was a bargain, but alas I think a couple of other seasoned participants were coming in at under £3000 all lots included.

Anyway, notwithstanding my inability to play it, I really like the Auction Game! Watching it with a number of Autoshitists is the best way to do it, because the running commentary from everyone is hilarious.

The Lacetti 1.8 auto estate and Audi A6 3.0 both went absurdly cheap - you'd have had change from a grand if you'd won them both. If I ever find myself there without a car and with cash in pocket I'd be in serious trouble.

Too damn right. Some of the noises being made by the mid 2000s diesel VAG stuff that shunted through gave me little faith in them arriving at the various bombsite dealerships within the locality.

In fact, I had the most faith in that petrol Kia Carens with 325,000 miles on it.

Which one were you ranting yoof?

Lanky chap in the flat cap, massive coat, beige cords and luminous running shoes, probably shaking from the cold.

In fact, I was part of the group you approached immediately after you failed to accidentally buy a Skoda Fabia estate. :-D

Cracking day chaps, always good to see shitters old and new.  Many thanks to Mr and Mrs Brownnova who were being very nice to a previously bored kitteninthewelder.

Auctions were usual fun of watching the bottom end of the motor trade do their thing.  I got slightly lost on the way to the bus museum as the AS convoy technique of all go different ways was in full effect.  I lost Ghosty but found Anthony G.  I gave the 220 full throttle around the outside of a Cannock roundabout in an effort to keep up which somewhat upset the owner of a very new Bentley who came roaring past us both when he caught up.

The bus museum was great, really friendly staff let us clamber over the exhibits and supplied us with plenty of tea.

Rover made it back to Ludlow in fine style before a minor FTP in a layby I stopped in to phone the kids.  I think there is a bad earth somewhere as it wouldn't start a few times, rang the gaffer for a jumpstart then rang him back 30 seconds later when it started.

Good to meet everyone, not even spoilt by the cold.

What a good museum; none of this everything roped off and don't touch notices but encouraged to climb on and sit in the restored buses ( and virtually free).

I had the Lacetti as one of my choices...

Well that's a lovely evening's pubbage concluded (especially lovely for me as I'm the only person not driving).

Everyone is on their way successfully, or at least have started their cars successfully.

Safe journey home everybody.

Yes, a grand old day. I took barely any pics, considering mostly a day off. However,

Sorry to all the folk I've never met before that I didn't introduce myself properly to. I get a bit giddy because of the auction game and forget my manners.

^^ Yeah, rude git^^  :-D

myself and Blind Trev got a bit lost, then I needed a wee. My phone started playing silly bollocks, we got lost, I got angry and headed home.

Looks like the museum was bus-filled

The Lacetti was probably the bargain of the day, can't remember how much it went through for but at least it didn't give me Tresja Vu (copyright Ghosty) like that feckin' Polo..... (went through the block three times £240, £210 £165)

GR9 Day wd go agen

It's been a fun one, I took a few photos that I'll strive to throw up tomorrow.

Did quite well on the auction game, if I'd have picked the Vauxhall Combo instead of the Disco TD5 I think I'd have quite possibly won tbh.

The transport museum was a real gem, and I picked up a few photos of old Manchester buses there (they had bus photos from all over the country on sale). There were also a few boxes of Haynes and assorted other manuals covering an hell of a lot of obscure shite, including a Fuego Haynes, still sealed
