I bitch an awful lot about the weather over here, but we don’t get things like this or even close so I really shouldn’t. I can’t imagine what it must be like going through something like this, the thought of literally losing everything. PhilA, Low Horatio gearbox and mk2_craig 3

PhilA Posted August 31, 2021 Author Posted August 31, 2021 Yup. Family is safe. Everything else can be fixed. It'll take time. We'll be ok. Eventually. Low Horatio gearbox, 3VOM, BlankFrank and 19 others 22
STUNO Posted August 31, 2021 Posted August 31, 2021 Relief, house is just a bit damaged, it looked to be a good well built one. Not at all surprised the shed is gone though. Your home and family are ok and no flooding .

Sorry to hear you've been directly in the line of fire. Fingers crossed you can get the basic utilities back up and running along with some semblance of normality before too long. I've been following Reed Timmer on Twatter and his reports have been a massive eye-opener. I don't know where you are, but does his report cover your area at all? Everything crossed for the Chieftain too!

Phones maybe a few weeks.
Madman Of The People Posted August 31, 2021 Posted August 31, 2021 Sorry to hear about this, Phil. I hope insurance will cover the house, garage and the Pontiac, too, naturally. Glad to hear you and your family are okay. What's the situation on the Renault and the Plymouth? BTW, here in Middle Tennessee, we're getting the remnants of the storm. It's been raining for the past two days but, fortunately, no wind at all to speak of. PhilA 1

The Renault might still be ok. The twister didn't take that side of the garage from what I can tell. My neighbor says they'd take some pictures tomorrow when it's light. PhilA Posted September 3, 2021 Author Posted September 3, 2021 Lowered suspension. Garage roof is sitting on the hood. Everybody who has gone back has said "If you have a place to stay, don't come back". There's nothing down there right now. No food, gasoline. JeeExEll Posted September 3, 2021 Posted September 3, 2021 A mere flesh wound to the Plymouth, it's survived 70 years and ready for another 170. Keep at it Phil, difficult times, am sure many here are wishing you and your family well.

Madman Of The People Posted September 4, 2021 Posted September 4, 2021 If it's any consolation, at least you weren't too deep into the restoration of the Plymouth. The Pontiac can be saved. Losing that car would have been heartbreaking. Let me know if you want to come to Nashville until things in Louisiana return to normal. PhilA Posted September 9, 2021 Author Posted September 9, 2021 What a mess. I need to buy a chainsaw. Managed to cut the car free from the wreckage though. Scratches. Bumps. Dinks (that one's not very nice). Did find the visor though. This is surprisingly unscathed. I need to pull the building off it but we'll see how it looks afterward. Phil House stinks of damp and mold which is horrible. An going to try to down at the weekend and get it ventilated better than I did today, clean the carpet and ceilings, pull the insulation out of the roof where it's all damp. Not gonna be much fun. Tigerfox Posted September 9, 2021 Posted September 9, 2021 Pleased to see the Pontiac escaped major damage after all the work you put in and hopefully you can get your house habitable soon. Nick Low Horatio gearbox 1
eddyramrod Posted September 9, 2021 Posted September 9, 2021 I put a Like on that because the damage is way lighter than it could have been; even the Plymouth might be saveable, which can only be good news. Glad you found the visor more or less intact too. The Pontiac... well it's honest patina! Old cars always have stories to tell, and these two most certainly do! I hope you can restore some sort of normality Phil, and wish you nothing but the best of luck. Dan_ZTT, adw1977, mk2_craig and 5 others 8

hairnet Posted September 9, 2021 Posted September 9, 2021 Will you able to recycle some of that back into a garage or will you look for someone with a woodburner Sounds like storm 0 house 1 which is nice
Minimad5 Posted September 9, 2021 Posted September 9, 2021 Shit the bed, not nice that. Glad everyone is safe. If us lot can help in anyway, do let us know
danthecapriman Posted September 9, 2021 Posted September 9, 2021 Bloody hell! Not nice at all. The cars seem to have survived reasonably ok though all things considered. Hopefully nothing a bit of tlc won’t sort. Hopefully the house won’t be too bad, and you get up & running as close to normal as possible. Glad nobody got hurt though, that’s the main thing.
